Our most recent project, nearing completion, new porch and boot room on a lovely victorian lodge with a feature ceiling and limestone floor, external steps are in a sawn sandstone. We have also been upgrading the patio and paving, with gravel, fire pit, outside bar and BBQ to install and then some lovely planting to come...A big thanks to Costa, Jake, Paul, Freddie, Oscar and Miles who have all done their think to make this happen.

A project we completed earlier in the year just outside of Crowborough. A great example of how you can really make the most of a slope and turn a problem into something infinitely more useful and beautiful. Thanks, as always, to Phil Samways and his team at Katsura Gardens who did the construction works, Nicki Herbst and her team at Drew Neat Gardening for developing the planting ideas and implementing, and my team here at Dewlands on the water features, steam bent oak bench, glass balustrades, gazebo, and larch gates...a big team on a big project beautifully executed!

Picture this, sitting on the terrace soaking in the sun, evening family BBQs and alfresco dining, reading a book while the kids race around doing their own thing, a quiet retreat in nature to sit and take in a view and or be inspired, a walk in an abundance of flora and fauna, recharging the batteries while warming the toes by a crackling log fire pit, doing something different, focusing on the now and not the tomorrow.

Well you could spend a fortune on holidays for a week or two a year, alternatively you could invest in your garden and enjoy these things for many months each year and every year to come. A fire pit during the autumn and winter months extends the enjoyment of your garden throughout the seasons.

Building a garden room is often a straightforward process that doesn’t involve the need for planning permission. But garden rooms aren’t a one-size-fits-all matter, so it’s best to err on the side of caution to avoid any legal disputes.

Even if you’re doubtful that your build will require planning permission, we recommend you submit an application for a certificate of lawful development. If successful this gives you certainty that your scheme is permitted, it removes the doubt for you and for any future purchaser of your property.

We’ve been designing garden offices, gyms, and all sorts of other outbuildings for many years, so we know a thing or two when it comes to planning. Upon inspection, we’ll be able to assess whether or not your proposed build will need planning permission. We’ll also give you a good idea as to whether or not you’ll actually get it should you apply.

Our consultative approach with the planning authority allows us to design buildings that will win their support. Unlike less successful planning consultants, we’ve maintained a 100% success rate for both planning permission and for applications for lawful development certificates.

Like all good things in life, working from home can have its downsides. You may not have a quiet space to avail of when you need to focus. Or perhaps you and your partner are struggling to fit into that tiny home office (it wasn’t built for two!).

One of the best things about our garden rooms is that they’re fully insulated, fitted with electrics (and plumbing, if you wish). You can think of our designs as an extension of your house: built to the same standard of comfort, durability, practicality and quality. And, just as an extension would, they’ll even increase your home’s value. In other words, they’re a very worthwhile investment.

2020 - the year of the ‘Work From Home’ revolution. The pandemic has totally transformed how we live, commute and do our jobs, and perhaps for the better. We’re welcoming this new era with open arms - an era of enhanced productivity, better work/life balance, and having the time and freedom to work how we like. Whatever your home working woes are, it looks like this new way of life is here to stay. And for this reason, it’s extremely worthwhile to invest in a proper home workspace - one that’s focus-friendly, spacious, and comfortable enough to sit in all day.

Luckily, we’ve got the perfect solution - a beautiful garden room that will increase your productivity, add value to your home and even make you excited to go to work!

A project we finished in Tunbridge Wells earlier in year, a bit of subtle lighting looks most inviting in the twilight. Even on a cool autumnal evening the fire pit warms the soul. The clients choice of furniture finished this project beautifully.
