We have recently rejuvenated a customers patio replacing outdated Indian Stone with modern none slip porcelain tiles.
This customer rarely used their existing patio as the steps were too steep, inconsistent in height, the treads not deep enough and dangerous.
After consulting with the customer we agreed how we would improve the steps with minimal disruption to the existing wall and encroachment into the existing garden.
Additional lighting was needed within the walls, the buff brick soldiers needed to be replaced as they were blown due to the frost damaging them and the existing handrails needed to be modified to the new design.
During the installation changes were made to the design to ensure it met the customers expectations as ultimately it had to be right for the customer.

This week we have installed new security posts to secure a customers new pride and joy. Unfortunately thieves will attempt to steal cars from your drive and with the aid of security posts you can prevent or reduce the risk of it happening and make them think twice and look elsewhere. We needed to widened the drive slightly so the front garden wall needed to be removed and the end pillar rebuilt. The block paving down the side of the drive lifted to allow the cables to be run in conduit down to the garage so there was power to the bollards but once the work was completed it looked like we had never been there.

We have installed two automatic Ballards manufactured by BFT and supplied to us by Metalines

We will show you the unpacking of the product so that you can see what is inside the boxes and its construction as we do. They are a very robust product. This company manufactures products to withstand terror attacks from Lorrie’s being driven through their post style barriers so they will withstand a domestic vehicle being driven into them in an attempted theft.

This product is the Stoppy B 500 electromechanical automatic rising Ballard and has been supplied in a kit with two ballads and a Perseo CBE control panel and 2 BFT Mitto B RCB 2 Blue transmitters to raise and lower the bollards once installed and wired up.

The Stoppy B is an electromechanical security bollard and is 115 mm in diameter and 500 mm in height, it is fitted with a rear-reflecting strip. The Stoppy B is available in two finishes: painted steel coloured RAL 7015 or stainless steel.

The Stoppy B is available in both 115/500mm (55kg) or 200/700mm (105kg) height sizes, depending on your requirements. The BFT Stoppy B Bollards also come with rear reflective strips for increased visibility during darkness.

I have installed the 115 /500 for a large SUV and it is sufficient to stop it being driven over that. The 200 / 700mm is way too big for domestic use I think personally.

They can be supplied with a single bollard or multiple number of bollards. You can operate up to 4 bollards from 1 control panel. Any more than bollards requires an additional control panel.

The bollards need a mains supply to operate and the control panel can be located either outside or inside. Personally we would prefer to mount them inside a garage or outbuilding that is secure and tamper proof.

The posts raise and lower automatically in 7 seconds and from the touch of a remote control fob. There is no need for getting out and unlocking a padlock on the base of the post in the pouring rain or having to defrost a frozen lock on the cold frosty mornings. We all know how easy it is to think we will lock things away later when it stops raining but thieves are watching us all the time regardless of the weather and will take your car if it’s not protected.

The bollards need to have a hole dug into the ground at least 1m deep to accept the full cassette of the bollard and the bottom of the hole must be above the water table, free draining or connected to a drain.

When the bollard is ready to be fixed into the hole it must be perfectly level even if the drive is not level. This is to ensure that the post operates correctly.

The base of the post is set into gravel which allows any water to drain away from the base of the post cassette and the upper section of the post is set into concrete to hold it firmly in place and prevent any movement in the event of anyone attempting to steal your precious vehicle locked away behind it.

Once the post is set into concrete the area around it can be patched up to make it nice and tidy and the cables run to the mounting point in the control box which we have placed in the customers garage where our electrician has recently installed a new power source for us to connect into.

The bollards are then wired up into the control panel and programmed to the key fobs and both are activated from the same button on the fob for ease of use.

It’s a simple push of a button to lower and raise the bollards. The customer can now safely secure their pride and joy behind the Stoppy B 500 bollard without fear of it being driven off the driveway.

As our lives change sometime our living spaces need to be adapted to suit changes that come along. We have recently partially competed the structural and second fix works for a garage conversion to a utility room and wet room for an aging person with a daughter with a disability that needed easy access to a downstairs wet room. The easiest solution was to partially convert the double garage. We worked with a local bathroom company who commissioned us to complete the new drains, structural work, first fix and second fix electrics, first fix plumbing and plastering. It was important that the new floor levels of the conversion matched those of the existing house as there was a step down into the garage prior to converting the garage and installing a ramp to the internal door of the garage for access too.

This is a recent project undertaken with a local high quality kitchen design and manufacturing company in Sheffield. We were asked to provide a turnkey project from rip out of the existing kitchen, removal of the walls and chimney on both levels, inserting steels, new electrics to support this high quality kitchen set up of alliances (first and second fix for new lighting and socket configuration), plumbing for the kitchen appliances and relocation of the radiators, plastering and preparing the floor ready for Karndean being laid.
