How to Find your 'Personal Style':
▪ Know your body type
(apple, pear, rectangle, hourglass, or inverted triangle)
Body type dictates what clothes would look naturally good on you.
▪ Gather your looks
Make a folder of photos of yourself from the past that you like the most; dresses you often wear, etc. Work on adding to those looks, and how you can align them with current fashion trends, like adding a piece of jewellery or boots, etc
▪ Scan your wardrobe
All of your clothes have stories to tell, however, the most repeated clothes will point towards the style you prefer.
▪ Think about a style icon
Dead, alive, celebrity or not. Your style icon can help you find your personal style.
Elegance like Audrey Hepburn or an absolute diva like Beyonce, eccentric like Lady FGaga, or the girl next door like Emma Stone?
▪ What inspires you?
Bohemian chic, yogini, classy and feminine, athletic or casual?
We all have an innate affinity towards a particular style.
▪ What are your favourite colours, are you all about prints and bright colours, or do you like muted and minimal?
Are you understated elegance with a mellowed-down palette?
Take a minute to have a look at your wardrobe for the colour palette that stands out.
▪ What accessories do you prefer?
A chunky neckpiece with huge earrings or is fine jewellery your thing?
Accessories are a big part of this puzzle and speak a lot about your personality.
▪ Do you have any ideologies
Are you about cruelty-free products?
Is fashion your thing and you like to keep up to date with the latest trends?
Understanding this will broaden your horizon while narrowing your scope.
▪ Look in your shoe closet
Sometimes working backwards helps! What are your go-to shoes? You ultimately have to match your shoes with your outfits.
▪ Your favourite brands
Do you prioritise brand over style or comfort? Having favourite brands is a big clue to your style.
▪ Have at least one signature piece of clothing in your wardrobe that you think completes your outfit -something you often reach for to put your look together.
