This one was a bit of a nightmare!!

Completely forgot to take any before photos, been a bit all over the place with personal stuff recently so lost my rhythm with my socials.

The shapes and contours and bumps in the existing walls I’ve had to get over in this kitchen are some of the worst I’ve ever had to tackle 🤣🤣

Had to pull out all the tricks!

Hoping to be back soon to carry on into the dining area and the living room 👌

A little progress update from our current project in Wigginton, Tamworth 👌

We’re nearly at the finish line now with the plastering work, and it’s great to see the transformation taking shape. The client has been cracking on with the decorating, and it’s all looking fantastic already.

Just the lounge left to complete now. There’s still plenty of preparation work ahead, but that’s the part that really makes the difference. Get the prep right, and the actual plastering becomes the easy bit. Quality finishes always start with solid groundwork.

If you’ve recently bought an older property that needs a bit of love, modernising, or bringing back to life, I’d be happy to help.

☀️ Did you know Cork can help during summer too?

Most people think of insulation as something that keeps homes warmer in winter, but a Cork system in your home works all year round.

By slowing down heat transfer through external walls, cork can help rooms stay cooler for longer during hot weather, reducing the amount of heat entering your home from sun-exposed walls.

✅ Helps regulate indoor temperatures
✅ Reduces heat transfer through solid walls
✅ Improves year-round comfort
✅ Breathable and moisture resistant
✅ Ideal for older properties with cold or overheating walls

While it’s not a replacement for air conditioning, cork acts as a thermal buffer – helping to keep heat in during winter and excessive heat out during summer.

If you have rooms that are freezing in winter and uncomfortably warm in summer, a cork thermal coating could be the solution.

Now the weather’s finally starting to improve, it’s a good time to get the outside of your property sorted ready for summer ☀️

We’re now booking in rendering work for the coming months, including:

✔️ Silicone render systems
✔️ Coloured render finishes such as monocouche
✔️ Render repairs & refreshes

A new render can completely change the look of a property, giving it a cleaner, more modern finish while also helping protect it from the British weather.

Whether your current render is tired, cracked, dated, or you just fancy giving the house a fresh new look, feel free to get in touch for a quote or some advice on the best option for your property.

I’ve recently been using cork inside a customer’s property, and it’s a really interesting solution for homes that struggle with cold, damp-feeling walls.

A lot of homeowners deal with the same issues — rooms that always feel cold even when the heating is on, condensation forming on external walls, and that recurring black spot mould in corners or behind furniture. These problems are usually caused by cold wall surfaces and poor temperature balance rather than just “dirty walls”.

Cork coatings help by slightly increasing the surface temperature of the wall and creating a breathable, insulating layer. This reduces the chance of condensation forming in the first place, which in turn helps prevent mould growth and improves overall comfort in the room. It also has the added benefit of softening sound and reducing that hollow echo you sometimes get in solid-walled properties.

It’s not a replacement for full insulation, but it’s a great minimally invasive upgrade for homes where traditional insulation isn’t practical or where homeowners want to improve comfort without major disruption.

If you’ve got rooms that always feel cold, damp, or prone to mould, it could be worth exploring whether a cork system is suitable for your property.

Nostalgia really is a powerful thing.

Like a lot of people lately, I think I’ve found myself feeling a bit worn down by how fast and uncertain the world can feel sometimes. Life moves quickly, everyone’s constantly busy, and it can feel like there’s never much time to properly switch off.

This evening I ended up watching old WWF storylines from when I was a kid, and it’s strange how something so simple can instantly transport you back to a completely different time in your life. The entrance music, the commentary, the rivalries I used to be glued to as a kid — it all somehow still carries the same feeling years later.

For a little while, it takes you back to a time where life felt simpler. Before adult responsibilities, constant stress and the endless stream of bad news that seems to follow us all around these days.

I think that’s why nostalgia means so much to people. It’s not necessarily about wanting to live in the past — it’s more about reconnecting with moments in life that felt comforting, familiar and uncomplicated.

Even if it’s only for a short while, those moments of escape can genuinely help reset your mind a little.

I know this page is mainly about plastering, renovations and the work I do day to day, but I also want people to see there’s a real person behind the business too. Like everyone else, I have the same thoughts, stresses and little moments of reflection that we all experience from time to time.

Anyway… back to watching Stone Cold hand out Stunners like it’s still 1999.

⚠️ BLACK SPOT MOULD IS MORE THAN JUST AN EYESORE ⚠️

Black spot mould is usually caused by excess moisture in the air mixing with cold walls and ceilings. Everyday things like cooking, showering, drying clothes indoors and poor ventilation create condensation, which settles onto colder surfaces and allows mould to grow.

Many people clean it off or paint over it, but unless the cause is treated, it will always come back.

One of the long-term solutions I offer is a specialist thermal cork coating system. Unlike anti-mould paints and sprays, cork coatings help warm the wall surface, reducing condensation by stopping water molecules being attracted to cold areas in the first place.

Benefits include:

✔ Helps eradicate black spot mould
✔ Reduces condensation
✔ Up to 30% reduction in heat loss
✔ Natural sound dampening of up to 10-15db
✔ Breathable and energy efficient
✔ Improves comfort within the home

Once applied, the cork coating is plastered over as normal, leaving a smooth paint-ready finish. Underneath, however, is a thermal barrier constantly working to protect both your property and your health.

AI is becoming seriously powerful for tradesmen. 🤯

A mate of mine mocked up a design for a media wall I’ll be building on one of the renovation projects I’m currently working on. Today I took a photo of the actual wall it’ll be going on and asked ChatGPT to show me what it would look like once built… and honestly, it blew me away.

Being able to visualise projects before even picking up a tool is a game changer — not just for us in the trade, but for customers too. It helps bring ideas to life, plan finishes, and get excited about the end result before work even starts.

On one hand, AI advancing this quickly is a little scary… but on the other, it’s becoming an incredibly useful tool when used properly.

Can’t wait to get this one built and see the real thing come to life 🔥
