We are delighted to see the Iris Garden featured in the latest edition of the magazine as part of its focus on gardens being future proofed for a changing climate.

As weather patterns shift and hotter, drier conditions become more common, gardens must evolve too. The Iris Garden has been carefully designed to support resilience, biodiversity and sustainability for the future, while continuing to be a place of beauty and inspiration for visitors today.

We are so grateful to Nick and his team for caring for the garden so beautifully, and with the spirit and vision in which it was originally designed. This is a wonderful moment to celebrate the work of the garden team and everyone involved in helping to protect these special places for generations to come.

A little introduction for those who are new here 🌿

Hello 👋🏻 , I’m Kristina, Creative Director at Kristina Clode Garden Design. Most of you know me as a garden designer, but less of you will know that I am also a garden historian.

Much of the studio’s work is inspired by the stories landscapes hold, and we love exploring how the history of a place can inform the gardens we design today. Creating timeless landscapes rich in planting, biodiversity, and character is at the heart of what we do at Kristina Clode Garden Design.

We’re incredibly proud that our Sussex Meadow Garden has won the SGLD Design for the Environment Award, bringing this honour back to the studio for the third time 💚

This award is a special reminder of why we do what we do - creating gardens that work in harmony with nature, support biodiversity, and evolve beautifully over time.

DELIGHTED to have won the Society of Garden + Landscape Designers ‘Design for the Environment’ Award on Friday. Winning this award again means so much to me and the studio. Hearing the project praised as “accessible, low impact and environmentally sensitive, with striking planting” was a real honour, and perhaps most importantly, that it has “clearly delighted the client” brings an incredible sense of pride.

Congratulations to all the other award winners & shortlisted ✨.

The winter garden has so much to offer, quiet promises of what’s to come, and the beautiful shapes left behind from last year. A season of endings and beginnings, all at once 🌱🌾🪾

Spotted in the KCGD garden this week - Eranthis hyemalis, Helleborus × hybridus ‘Magic Red’ & ‘White Spotted’, Crocus, Galanthus nivalis, Leucojum vernum, Primula veris & Clematis clarkeana ‘Winter Beauty’.

Winter structure comes from Hydrangea petiolaris and Miscanthus sinensis ‘Kleine Silberspinne’, with glowing bark from Acer griseum. Gorgeous foliage from Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii and Heptapleurum taiwanianum (syn. Schefflera).

Think winter in the garden has to be dull? Think again!
