Work in progress - a new coastal house in Bexhill shaped by views, light and topography.

Quiet and restrained to the roadside, the house opens southwards towards expansive sea views, with a stepped garden dropping away to the beach huts below the cliff.

Pale brickwork, soft bronze cladding and expansive glazing form a contemporary composition, tonally aligned with the coastal setting, shifting subtly with the ever-changing light.

One year since handover - a home quietly anchored in its Kent landscape.

Approached via a tree-lined drive, the house is carefully composed to open onto infinity gardens, drawing long views across the marsh and coastline into daily life.

A muted palette of timber and render wraps the exterior, while warm timber interiors and expansive glazing create a calm, light-filled home.

We are excited to have submitted a planning application for works to a Grade II Listed country house in the Kent Downs. The house was built in 1850 by Robert Palmer Browne. The plan spread over three floors, with substantial grounds and fantastic views across the Kent Downs. The new proposals focus on removing later additions including a modern conservatory with a larger contemporary extension to provide improved connectivity with the gardens and landscape from the house. A new pool and pool house are designed to frame the views and provide shelter from the wind.

The new extensions and alterations are proposed in a bleached natural timber cladding with an exposed rafter foot detail replicating the rhythm of the details to the main house roof.

Working alongside the application has now been submitted and we look forward to the project progressing.

We recently took part in a Design Review Panel to present our scheme for a new para 84 house in Essex. The scheme seeks to utilise the site for a large growing and produce area, plus reinstatement of orchards. The land has been in the same family for several generations and was previously used as a nursery, so a connection to this past use, and re introducing growing of food on site was important for the family.

The design combines rammed search walls and zinc barrel vaulted roofs, along with other structures to allow for food production and land management

Our recently completed coastal home in east sussex embraces calm and privacy within a busy seaside setting. Pale brickwork wraps three sides of the plot, opening to a sheltered garden lined with cedar cladding and a central courtyard at its heart. Covered walkways offer shade and connection between the main house and a timber-clad garden cabin — a peaceful family retreat a short walk from the beach.
