April 2024 was a big turning point for me.
that’s when I made the jump and went fully self-employed.

Leaving the security of regular work to back myself was exciting, terrifying, and everything in between. Running your own business definitely isn’t the easy route. There’s pressure, long days, constant problem-solving, and plenty of stress behind the scenes… but I honestly don’t regret it in the slightest.

Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to work on some amazing projects while working for other people. The downside was that you don’t always get to see the finished result — once your part’s done, the job moves on and you’re off to the next site before everything comes together.

Working for myself has completely changed that.

Now I get to take projects from start to finish — from the first conversation and design ideas, right through to the final fixings and clean-up. Seeing the transformation, knowing every detail was done properly, and handing over a finished job I’m genuinely proud of is a different level of satisfaction, especially when you see the smile on the customer’s face when they see it finished for the first time.

We transformed a rotting garden room into a bespoke pergola, giving the space a new lease of life and creating a durable, attractive outdoor area for our clients to enjoy.

This has been one of the most challenging projects to date, but also one of the most rewarding.
