We’re delighted to share that our work has been recognised with the AJ Retrofit & Reuse Award 2025 for Private/Individual Renovation!

This award reflects what we care about most: creating thoughtful, long-lasting homes by working closely with clients who value character, detail, and sustainability.

"The judges praised the creative and thorough transformation of a house which could easily have been demolished in favour of new build, an approach which is widely replicable on similar house types"

For those exploring the potential of an existing home, this project shows what’s possible with a considered design led approach.

Planning approval granted in Hackney for our reworking of a period home in the Victoria park conservation area.

Consented works include a modern extended rear ground floor including bespoke brickwork arches and bronze framed glazing. Internal reworking and lowering of the existing semi-basement to create additional living spaces and essential back of house areas.

The practice is looking forward to progressing this project to start onsite summer 2025

Really pleased to share that our House of wood shingle project in Bath, has been shortlisted for this years RIBA South West & Wessex regional awards...

This adventurous contemporary design has been achieved within a conservation area and in the context of a World Heritage Site. Perched on a private wooded hill side road in the outskirts of Bath with views directly over the city to Bristol, the Severn Estuary, and beyond to Monmouthshire, the house had not been renovated in decades and suffered from poor insulation and a palette of pastiche, low quality materials.

The decision to ‘cloak’ the building by placing high performance insulation and sustainable cedar cladding on the outside of the external walls and roof creates a visually unified and low energy home, with the retained building fabric repurposed as thermal mass.

A house for Sunday lunch

The contrasting modern extension and refurbishment to an existing family home in North London. The existing property, a classic Victorian terrace on a beautiful and cherished local London Square, is dramatically transformed to serve the challenges of modern family living.

Working within the strict requirements of the local conservation area this project sensitively combines traditional with modern intervention, seeking similarity through texture and quality as opposed to visual continuity.

Inside - outside

The studio is always challenged with how to create a strong connection with private garden space, especially in urban projects.

Our House of two halves project brought minimal glazing, level thresholds, stepped planted terracing, neutral material tones and the perfect morning coffee or evening red wine spot.

A house of two halves

Extension and remodelling of a Grade II listed mid-nineteenth century home on a garden square in Hackney, East London. Equal respect for period and contemporary architecture delivers a house of two halves, where cohesion and balance are achieved through a subtle palette and pared back material approach. The experience of the house is radically transformed with the creation of a new kitchen, dining and living space which opens out on to a stepped garden.

Currently featured in Grand Designs April issue.
