In the mid 1980’s a rather affluent South African friend invited me to go see Neil Sedaka at the Albert Hall. Everyone was very smartly dressed, many Bow Ties and Evening Gowns. I however (being a skint musician at the time) I was in my Biker Jacket, tight black Jeans and Bleached (Billy Idol esq) white Hair.
We took our Seats, which turned out to be 'Front Row', Twelve feet from Neils Piano !
Lights go down, Mr Sedaka walks out, sits at his Piano, and he kicks into “That’s when the Music takes me” .
In the Piano intro he scans the Audience, sees me and fluffs the first line 🎼 “That’s when the …………… Mm m m takes me”
So Sorry Neil ### ❤️

Of the 50 plus Bands I’ve worked with, some really stand out, and prove that sometimes, even pure Talent isn’t enough. Although respected but those “in the know” the wonderful ‘SPINTO BAND’ failed to realise their potential. Six talent guys, Two set of Brothers !! They all swapped instruments, and jumped around like ‘The Osmonds’ ! I was lucky to be their FOH / Tour Manger 2005-6... such good days, thank you Guys 🥰

In the 1980’s we were managed by the guy who Managed ‘Chicory Tip’. He told us this story; After an early 70’s BBC TOTP appearance they had an argument in his Rolls Royce on the way home. He stopped on the elevated section of Westway, and made them all get out in full Stage Gear, and left them there, … in the rush hour ! 😆

‘England’ 70’s prog rock band ; Guitarist Franc Holland was a good friend of my sisters, lovely guy . In 1982 I drove down to a Sussex Country mansion for an Audition as Bass player. At this time I was solidly into The Jam, after a cup of Tea, and a smug bunch of Toffs ( not Franc) slagging off Weller, I realised this was a waste of everyone’s time , and I left without even opening my bass case 😁 x
