Not the most obvious before and after but making this woodwork white again was like brushing your teeth after you forgot the night before 😅

This property had suffered from damp on the ground floor but since beginning a routine with a dehumidifier the newly dried out walls in the kitchen had cracked and crazed, plus the paint itself was peeling in various places. This was a big preparation job followed by a refresh and reset.

Hoping it’ll be good to go for the future now, some moisture had remained in the window reveals so I treated these areas with damp proofing paint before top coat and used a peel stop primer in other affected areas where old paint was loose or no longer there to prevent future issues.

Been meaning to post this for aaaages. Top achievement of 2025 has to be taking this shell of a room and creating a cosy welcoming lounge with media wall (My very first one!)

Things took a hairy start when removing the lining paper in a part of the house that still had the original construction, the old browning plaster had almost completely blown from the brickwork and it all fell apart. I ended up with a lot more plastering work than I fancied and we even erected a new dot and dab main wall! That paper must have been holding things together for some time!

All the structure for the media wall was put in and the decorating was done but then things here got put on pause because decorating had to commence for the ENTIRE house ready for moving day. So this was a bit of an extended project.

Some weeks later I was finally able to get my teeth into the media wall. I used a combination of pre-made cabinets and custom carpentry. The shelves are made of Oak veneered MDF mitre-wrapped into chunky shelves, the television is brought slightly forward with a reinforced false wall to hold the weight and also hide 2x 8k ready HDMI cables which emerge inside the lower units. No cables to be seen here, ever! I was even able to complete the lighting thanks to the site electrician consulting and checking the work on completion.

All in all it was a great experience making this happen notwithstanding a LOT of graft!

Do you have a hole? 🕳️

No to worry, I can fill your hole!

Big holes, small holes, holes in ceilings. No one will know there ever was a hole!

Now stop sniggering and get your mind out of the gutter 😉

This was so satisfying! Oak beam portico restored and looking fresh!

The customer wasn’t enjoying the silvered look, especially when the rest of the house had a fresh lick of paint and everything else was look so fresh and crisp. He had murmured about asking me to paint the oak timber white, which made my heart hurt! All that beautiful oak! I assured him it could be restored and set about making it happen.

The timbers were power washed, sanded and oiled twice. It was a very effective transformation 👌🏼 Now for the new door to be fitted for the full effect!

FURNITURE FRIDAY RETURNS! 🥳

Been soooo excited to post about this, annoyingly I was so consumed making it I didn’t take any process pics 🤦🏽‍♀️

After a brand new kitchen was fitted and I had come in to fully decorate and tile, the new dartboard backer for the bar area was discovered to be, well… proper naff 😅

I’m no darts expert so I asked the client exactly what would make this perfect and I knocked up a little 3D design (can’t recommend the Moblo 3D app enough! We were able to see the design in augmented reality before I committed it to wood!) I knew it had to complement the decor to prevent the whole thing being banished into the chilly garage 😝

✅ Backed in MDF painted to match the wall for that ‘invisible’ look but still giving plenty of wall protection and catch any stray darts
✅ Solid brass dowel joinery
✅ Rechargable LED light for better visibility or just a bit of mood lighting
✅ Shelf pocket at the bottom to keep any spare darts, chalk and LED remote control stored
✅ Integrated chalkboard for keeping score
✅ Dart display shelf
✅ Tasteful complement to the rest of the space
✅ Universal bracket so boards are interchangeable

I can’t get over how close the real thing is to the 3D model!

🎯 Hopefully I hit a bullseye with this one!

My goodness I LOVE panelling. The thing itself and the act of installing it 😎

This was the most I’ve ever done! One huge hall, stairs and a huge landing. A 30 metre total run in total! This was made easier by using ready made butt and bead panels and was finished with a bullnose dado.

I love the contemporary cottage feel and the added sense of quality and expense this look gives.

WALLPAPER WEDNESDAY! 🎉

Hanging wallpaper isn’t always my favourite task, but you lot don’t give me a chance to complain as it’s a surprisingly popular option and one of my most requested jobs in the last year or so. I always had myself down as a paint and panelling kinda gal but then I was seduced by the right wallpaper. Oh, and don’t get me started on murals 😍

One thing I have learnt is that wallpaper really does reflect its quality in its price; it’s worth paying for the nice stuff. Cheaper papers are a nightmare to hang and the finish will suffer! You can also save time and you might say money (in labour), with a good quality ‘paste the wall’ paper. I know not all decorators are fans and try to stick with tradition, but these apply much quicker with no soaking times or additional mess and are easy to trim there and then 👌🏼 Blink and you’ll miss it!

Tile Tuesday continues!

I got my head down and forgot to take process pics but here is the transformation. The kitchen was brand new and just installed but the customer thought that a little something was missing. So we took it up a notch with these amazing tiles 😍
