When you think of a porch, you probably think of somewhere to take your shoes off, right? 🤔

Porches can be so much more than that (although they are very handy when it comes to keeping muddy shoes, coats and clutter away from the living areas).

They can completely change the first impression of a house. After all, it’s one of the first things visitors see. A well-designed porch helps frame the entrance and makes it feel more welcoming and inviting.

They can also add character, depth and architectural interest, helping a property stand out and feel less flat from the front.

And when the British weather is doing its thing, they provide shelter from the rain when you're unlocking the door or bringing in the shopping. 🌧️🛍️

They can even help improve energy efficiency by creating a buffer between the outside and the main living space, helping to reduce draughts and heat loss when the front door is opened.

Sometimes, a porch is one of the simplest changes you can make that has a surprisingly big impact on both the look and feel of your home.

Have you ever considered the idea of open plan living in your home?

It completely changes how a home feels and functions, not just how it looks.

Here are a few benefits to open plan living:
☀️ Removing walls allows light to travel further through the house, making spaces naturally brighter and more inviting. It can also make your home feel bigger. Even if you don’t add any square footage, opening up rooms can make them feel more spacious and less restricted.

🍽️ It keeps your family together and connected. You can cook dinner whilst keeping an eye on the children and be part of the conversation when chatting with family or guests.

🍷 Modern living isn't as formal as it once was. Open-plan layouts allow spaces to adapt throughout the day, whether that's dining, relaxing, working from home or entertaining.

🌳 Open-plan kitchen-living spaces are often designed around large glazing and doors, helping bring the outside in and making better use of views and outdoor spaces.

💷 And finally, many buyers actively look for open-plan kitchen, dining and living spaces, making it an attractive feature when it comes to selling.

If you are interested in transforming your living space into an open-plan one, then please get in touch.

We do love a good bungalow renovation project 🏠
What was once a fairly standard bungalow in Prestbury is now a contemporary home designed around open plan living.

By rethinking the layout and opening up the spaces, we're creating a bright, open-plan kitchen, dining and living area that will completely change how this home is used and enjoyed.

What do you think of this complete remodelling of an existing semi-detached house in Wybunbury?🏡📍

Bringing more natural light into the home, especially to the extended kitchen, where we designed a roof light and a large window seat.

The unique sliding doors bring a quirky character to the kitchen too.

A look at a project we’re currently working on in Shavington, Cheshire.🏡

Taking this home from its existing layout through to a new concept and future vision. The clients are excited about it and so are we.

We’re really looking forward to seeing this one come to life and will be sharing the finished result once it’s complete.

You’d be surprised how often this scenario comes up when clients come to us trying to sell their home…👇

They’ve had an extension done or made changes over the years, but then questions start coming up about drawings, permissions or whether everything was signed off properly.

It turns out the drawings were done by someone who wasn’t a qualified architect, or they weren’t detailed enough to properly support what was built or the planning application.
⛔ This can put a halt on the sale, as it can make buyers hesitant.

At the time, it probably didn’t feel like a big deal. But when it comes to selling, it can become one.

Getting a qualified architect involved from the start means everything is properly thought through and documented, which not only helps during the build, but makes life a lot easier if you ever decide to sell.

Working with Grade II listed barns and making them work for modern living, requires a very different approach to a standard residential or commercial project.

You need to ensure you protect what’s already there, not just create new space.

Preserving original materials where possible, respecting the structure and making sure any new elements sit comfortably alongside the old.

There’s also a lot to consider such as ventilation, insulation and preventing damp.

And most importantly, you want to make sure you keep the character of the building, which gives its uniqueness.

If you have a grade II listed barn that needs renovating or converting, please get in touch.

A staircase can completely change the feel of a home 🏡
It’s usually one of the first things people see when they walk through your front door, so getting the design right can make a huge difference.

Feature staircases with open risers, glass balustrades or bespoke finishes such as unique handrails or lighting and bring real character to a home.

Staircases can provide more than the ability to get from one floor to another.

This staircase was designed as part of a newly built home in Cheshire and completely transformed the entrance space, creating something that felt modern, open and welcoming from the second you walked in.
