Lots going on at the moment!
Went to do a boiler service the other day and as soon as I got to the door could smell gas.
Whilst inside the smell was apparent, I had serviced this boiler for 3 years so this was a bit of a surprise.
Tightness test gas installation- fail.
Removed some flooring to access pipework- black iron- can not find escape.
Capped off pipework below floor to leave a 2mtr section where pipe enters property- still fail- even worse to be honest.
Back outside and I can smell gas.
Meter in garage, goes underground, under a concrete path and then into property.
Went back today with my mate, gunned up the concrete path where the pipe is to expose- 6 inch thick!!
Had to go and hire a bigger breaker and that struggled.
Now have the iron exposed, itβs directly laid in soil with no protection.
Next job is to go back and do a full gas pipe replacement with Tracpipe.
Now, I am away next week so I have had to sub this to my friend to get my customer back on gas.
Been lots of organising on this job and only started with a simple visit for boiler service.
Some of the iron pipe I pulled out was very poorly installed, some fittings are only threaded on a few threads.
Itβs done well to last this long as would have been installed early 70s.
