Happy April! The sun is shining, flowers are blooming and itβs the perfect time to get out into the garden! πΈ Here are some jobs to get on with this month:
π· Sow hardy annuals
π· Plant primulas and polyanthus for instant colour
π· Continue deadheading spring bulbs and bedding
π· Sow sweet peas at the base of supports
π· Prune hydrangeas, cutting back old stems to a healthy shoot lower down
π· Protect the new shoots of vulnerable plants from slugs and snails, such as hostas, delphiniums and lupins
π· Divide and replant mature clumps of hardy perennials, such as hostas, asters and daylilies
Remember to keep an eye on the weather forecast for any risk of frost, and also keep an eye out for aphids and box caterpillar! βοΈπͺ²π
