Some before, during and after photos of a full stove door restoration for a customer.

After going to the customers house to install a new glass and handle it became apparent that all the screws on the glass clips had been rounded and could not be removed at the job.

As the screws could not be removed at the job I then took the stove door with me so I could then remove the old screws and then tap and die the door so new screws and clips could be installed.

Services included:
- Old screws removed
- new holes tap and die
- Stove door painted
- Glass rope seal replaced
- Door rope seal replaced
- New glass installed
- New Stove door handle installed
- Air control handle sanded and polished to remove all scale

Once returning to the job at a later date to install the refurbished door the customer was given the option to have their stove painted as well so the door and stove itself would match.

Before and after photos of a Saturday morning sweep and refurb of this Firefox 5 stove. The sweep and service was for a customer who had recently moved into his home and had enquired about a sweep and a survey to check which parts needed repaired and replaced to make the stove safe.

After further inspection it was discovered that the VIT pipe had deteriorated and did not have an adaptor on to the flexi twin wall liner.

Full services Included:

- Stove completely emptied and cleaned
- Rear firebrick repair
- Stove repainted
- Door glass and clips replaced
- Door rope seal replaced
- Door handle Replaced
- VIT pipe measured, cut and replaced
- Flue adaptor installed
- Full sweep
- Full camera Inspection before and after

The stove door was picked up earlier in the week and repaired ready for Saturday. Once arriving on Saturday every other service was carried out until completion.

Once the services were completed all appropriate tests were carried out to ensure that the stove and flue were in working order.

Couple of before, during and after a sweep. This is showing why it’s important to have your chimney swept. Soot left up in your flue can create a poor draught leading to underperforming and inefficient stove which can even lead to chimney fires.

I’ve recently had the pleasure of visiting a local training centre to learn more on installing stoves and had the chance to do a full install from the Slate Hearth from M.A.C. Metalcraft Ltd the heat shield from Midtherm Flue Systems the twin wall flue system from Mi-Flues Limited, the stove below is Hamer Fires brand new basset 5 stove and what a stove it is, from a sweeps perspective it’s an absolute dream to work with, there was also a new Recoheat installed in the flue system, a video review on the Hamer Fires basset 5 stove and the Recoheat will soon follow this post.

Today I had a customer call up about a bird being stuck in their chimney, after taking all the components out of the stove and putting the camera up the chimney to see where the bird was, it finally decided it wanted to come out after 15 minutes of waiting and was immediately released back outside.

This customer called up about a sweep and service on their stove in their new home. After inspecting the stove before any services were carried out it was quite obvious a few things needed to be done to bring the stove back to a suitable and safe standard.

Had a call out to a unlined stove with blockage issues, after learning a previous sweep had snapped and left their rod head up there for 7 years, once the required tool was delivered in quick time thanks to Rotary Power Sweeping - SnapLok UK , we then were able to get the brush head down and do our full sweep of the chimney which was caked in soot since nothing could escape the chimney due to the blockage.

After the the blockage was removed a basic sweep and door rope seal replacement were carried out. At the end we done a smoke test 2 and a spillage test to ensure there was no smoke out of the chimney breast and no smoke then spilling back into the room.

Numerous camera surveys
Unblocking the chimney
Chimney sweep
Door rope seal replacement
Smoke test 2
Spillage test

We also advised to have a cowl fitted to the pot to prevent any rain or birds from getting in the chimney and to possibly have a flexi liner installed as this will help the stove burn efficiently and be more cost effective.
