This story is so heartbreaking, and has sent shockwaves through our little town. Georgie Edwards daughter Georgina recently passed away, after she lost her battle with Crohn's Disease at just 33 years old.. Georgie and her partner Ian urgently need to create an extra room in their 1 bedroom retirement bungalow, so they can give Georgina's 9 year old son Riley his own space in their home. Do we have any tradespeople who could step up and do our own Grapevine DIY SOS? Here's Georgina's sister Lorraine to explain a bit about what is needed.
Sadly, on the 1st February we lost our sister to a 10 month long battle to Crohn's disease, leaving behind her 9 year old son, Riley.
Riley has never had his father in his life so this now means that he will be adopted by his maternal Nanny. We need to be able to put a loft extension onto Nanny's bungalow so Riley can have his own bedroom. The cost of this is enormous and, although the quotes received have been generous, they are still not within our limit to pay at the moment it is financially impossible.
We just want to be able to give Riley something that is his and only his, somewhere he feels safe and loved - somewhere he can put his Lego sets and his sonic wall stickers on the wall. Georgina didn't have enough time on this earth nor was she well enough to provide a secure future for Riley for when she was no longer here. My mum has always said a stable home stable children, we just want to give him everything he needs to give him the best opportunity in life he really deserves that.
The donations received will go towards the cost of the loft extension for Riley's bedroom. We appreciate each and every one.
