My latest completed project.
A swing beam attached between two trees.

My customer wanted his old swing beam (which was attached between two trees) replacing as it was starting to rot and it didn’t allow growth.

Before removing the old beam I had to ensure the new beam was installed first.
This is done by drilling large holes into the trees, installing large tree bolts and brackets.
All drill bits were disinfected prior and during use to ensure no infection is taken into the tree and once drilled a protective coating is applied. The health of the tree is always top priority.

What’s the benefit?
• The bolts and brackets allow the tree to grow by adjusting the spacing clamps to provide room to grow.
• The load rating is immense at 1700kgs!!
• If the beam rots over time (which it will not if treated as recommended!) you can just change the beam. If this was th case with a kit swing you’d have to replace the lot.
• When the kids aren’t playing on the swings hang a hammock, nest swing etc.. this beam can take the lot.
• You can build on this beam, add things and make it what you’d like. Climbing frame, tree house etc..

My latest project has finally been completed.
This 500+ year old barn was treated for woodworm and dry rot.
After a week on location the brief had changed.

My customer wanted to preserve the character of the barn with all the original wood still on display.
The aim was to have this a family room.
Insulation was installed where possible without compromising the charm of the space.
The ceiling was insulated with a combination of foam and foil which in some areas had to be sprayed matt black.

Other jobs completed as below;

• Old single main door removed, frame made larger and two doors made from scratch. This will enable him to drive his vintage tractors in.
• Apex openings closed with cladding.
• Ceiling void closure from incomplete garage conversion.
• Old shelves broken down and new shelving units made or assembled.
• All wood cleaned, treated, filled and oiled.
• Walls insulated (apart from feature wall which was requested to be left), lined and painted.
• Wood painted as required.
• All gaps closed to prevent cold air coming in.
• Wall mounted hot air radiators installed.
• Various other wall mountings completed.
• Walls cleaned and sealed.
• Floor screeded and painted (by others).

Are you a fan of recycling, reclamation, repurposing etc..
My customer wanted the void space under her stairs to be covered up and have access via two doors.

The catch was she wanted it built with reused materials from the house.
I used three old doors that the customer had to do the work. I had to make up a new door with a new frame as well.

I only hope that this is oiled and not painted to ensure it keeps the character of the wood.

Last house painting job of the year completed!
This customers paintwork, brickwork and pointing had suffered many years of weather damage.

When we inspected the house we found that previous painters had painted over fungi, used the wrong fillers and even the mortar was in a very poor state.
Previous attempts of paint removal were evident from painted over paint that had paint remover applied!

Damaged sills, lintels, mortar courses, cracks etc… all repaired.
Broken paint removed and areas keyed up.
Fungicidal was applied and a further wash carried out after 24hrs!

We don’t just paint your house, paint over the old paint and hide the damage..,
We repair, protect and ensure the surface is good to paint.

We even managed a rare snake relocation 😂.

We have just finished painting our last project & im pleased that our customer is happy with the results (as are we).
The customer had damaged render which had hairline cracks and blown render.

The walls were washed with a fungicidal wash to kill the growth then sounded to identify all areas that needed to be removed.

After removing the blown render we re-rendered where needed.
The hairline cracks were full depth and we grinded through these to the bricks and repaired with a tough masonry filler.

All surfaces were then prepped and painted, we even adapted the texture to match with fine sand’s.

If you have damaged render and you don’t want to remove all of it and apply new then please get in touch.
We can repair and restore so you don’t have to pay a hefty bill.

If someone says they’ll just render over the top of damaged render (common place!) please ensure you don’t take this option, you need to solve the problem first.
Remove all the render or repair the affected areas.

This summerhouse was an absolute pleasure to build even in the roasting hot sun we’ve had this and last week.
With insulated floor, ceiling and double glazing it also gives a nice escape from hot sun or the cold in winter.

At five by four meters it’s a great size as well & can even double up as an extra external room.

It was given a coat of coloured oil which has finished it off nicely (in future the inside will be varnished to offer even more protection).

I always recommend the use of oil (opposed to paint or stain) for external wood where practical.
Oil keeps the weather off whilst keeping the wood moist whereas paint drys the wood out and is often time consuming to put right of regular maintenance has not been done.

Do you want a swing that’s strong enough for you and the kids?
One you hang a hammock on, a nest swing etc..

This swing saves space by only having two legs.
It may seem that it may be unstable because of this but this really isn’t the case.

The frame is made from 6 inch tanalised posts that are concreted 1 meter into the ground.

Most two leg swings that you buy online required a concrete slab or to be fixed to existing landscaping which just doesn’t cut it for a long life of use.

My latest completed project.
A previous customer wanted two feature walls in their bar.
Their initial concern was cost as modern timber and composite cladding can be expensive.

I suggested using reclaimed pallet wood (like the bar I built in the picture was made from reclaimed materials). This made the materials costs a fraction of the cost if they used modern/ new materials.

Both walls were painted black prior the installation as this helps hide the gaps (pallet wood is often warped and is rarely the same dimensions).
After this the pallet slats were cut to suit and installed in a random pattern.

Once complete the walls were sanded and oiled with boiled linseed oil.
