Restoring a front doors is always a challenge but it’s definitely one of my favourite jobs to do as a decorator. This beautiful historic door has been made fit for purpose and is now the stunning focal point for this listed property. Finished in Farrow & Ball no 84 and saved with Repair Care

Stupidly didn’t get a before shot of this black plastic trunking fitted by SSE as the house had a new power supply fitted. Beautifully stone textured and blended to be invisible on this beautiful listed property. Very proud of this one 😊

Full restoration and improvements undertaken to this lovely Victorian high st shop front door. All my skills needed to make this door fit for purpose for a wonderful customer.

Works undertaken:

Full strip , repair and service to original Victorian floor pocket sprung hinge as the door would not close properly.

Full draught proofing externally and internally.

New high security night latch fitted and existing locks reinstated. High strength replacement screws all round.

Deep clean and polish to all brass hardware.

Soft closer fitted to improve safety and heat loss.

Secondary glazing bars added in preparation for polycarbonate double glaze to vastly improve heat retention in the shop.

Full sand down , fill and 2x top coat of Dulux high gloss.

Deep clean and glass polish.

Really enjoyed making these doors into to a lovely business beautiful and future proof again

10:30 finish tonight to push this Victorian shop door restoration forward and hopefully have it dry for opening in the morning. 🤞🤞🤞. Full dustless sand down , filed primed and first top coat done today.

Small heater on and air circulation dust cube running an all-nighter.

Fully sheeted up the porch to protect against dust blowing off the road and Hopefully it’s dry for morning opening 😊🤞🤞

Dulux high gloss with 20% owatrol oil and a glug of terebine driers.
Primed with otex.
Repair Care fillers.

Graft and craft. Worth it in the end. Delighted client and another historic floor saved from the woodworm and rot. Don’t do many floors these days but wanted to look after a lovely client who deserved not to fall through her own floor.

Pictures don’t do justice to one of my favourite new colours. Beautiful soft tones in Farrow & Ball modern emulsion in Setting plaster. Looked really good against their Tallow colour in eggshell.

A fully vapour permeable approach from start to finish. As you can see no job to scary at The Cranborne Craftsman. Redecorate/Restore/Renew/Repair

A real labour of love for a delighted and deserved customer. Every surface in the room was in need of saving.

Farrow & Ball strong white on the walls mixed to Zinseer Grade 1 restoration paint and contrasted with F&B modern eggshell in the new Eddy green.
In addition all walls once exposed were filled , stabilised and rebuilt with heritage approved approach. All concrete skirtings were stripped treated with fungicides and etched with a moisture resistant primer.
Once the walls were solid they were wallpapered with Wallrock kv600 thermal wallpaper for a huge saving on heat bills for a cold room.
Walkrock fibre liner to finish.
Floor restoration finished in 3 coats of Bona high traffic ultra Matt natural.

Break from the brushes! I’ve earned my £ this week. Worth it in the end. Brutal sanding and preparation = stunning Georgian restored Elm and Poplar farmhouse floor. PS the Frey Bentos corned beef tin repair dated to 1944-51. History joys.

The hardest four days of paper stripping in my career! Never has 26sqm of paper removal challenged me more. Just dreaming of filling and stabilising at the min😂😂Every trick , every tool. Six layers of bitumin and foil paper, oil based finishes on a bed of lime wash ,ontop of the lathe and plaster background. olympics ❤️ result
