Here’s the full guitar from the last post.
Very, very green. Single Bare Knuckle Warpig in the bridge position. I wanted to utilise all the controls so it has Vol, variable split coil, bass roll off, treble AND bass controls and a split on the switch. Ridiculous amount of sounds from one pickup.

This pre-war Martin Tenor came in for fretwork and some small cracks needed attention. Pretty incredible condition for being almost a century old.

In pic 3 you can see that Martins of this era have solid bar frets with no tang or barbs like modern fretwire.

I was conservative with crowning these as they are already low and it will aid the person pulling them when they eventually need replacing.

That person may end up being me so it pays to be conscientious.

Here are some before and after photos of a repair to a Tom Anderson Bulldog.

The damage to the figured top was pretty extensive and a section had to be matched and replaced.

My intention here was not to make it invisible but to try and retain the beautiful flame of the top, bring back the faux binding and make it look neat without drawing the eye.

The donor top wood was matched for run-out, end-grain, flame size and orientation and the tinted to match the colour.

I feel that sometimes a good, visible repair is preferable to trying to obscure the traces of the past. Although it probably wasn’t a financially responsible decision on my part as it took bloody ages.

Here is a repair to some binding on a Dreadnaught. This was done using milliput, mixol, lacquer and stains. I’ve been turning to milliput for binding repairs recently as it’s fairly mess free and the superfine white can be tinted.

Here’s some shots of the gold Gibson SG refin. Very pretty and shimmery in the daylight.
