Busy busy busy! Flat out since the deluge of snow hit Sheffield on a wide variety of clean up jobs.
Out making the best of what was once a significant tree in Broomhill, heavily pollarded due to a tear out and substantial decay. Careful management will see this tree last a number of years yet.

PUSHING ON // After spending a couple of weeks negotiating the Welsh borderlands for what was advertised as a 'break', it's good to get back to work this week for an actual rest!

Luckily Cyd was available to supervise the men whilst the boss was away, allowing felling and extraction to continue on a site where operations are very time and weather sensitive. And a great job they've done too!

ASH DIEBACK // Steady dismantle by the team of a very ropey ash on the boundary between a school and a busy A road. This particular tree was suffering a two-pronged attack from both ash dieback and widespread Inonotus.

As ADB progresses the timber becomes increasingly brittle, eventually making the tree too dangerous to climb. At this point removal via MEWP or mechanical means are the only options to keep our team and the public safe.

WORKING WITH THE SITE // There's no 'one size fits all' approach for the small, sensitive sites we work on, so we are constantly seeking balance between what to take and what to leave.

Here we've made management of a tricky ash dieback site possible by making the most of novel and traditional marketing avenues, whilst leaving any healthier looking ash in situ.

Away day job with for while the truck was being serviced by Richmond. Great day thinning Scots pine for chip and ash for firewood from a shelter belt.
We left the good quality pine and mixed hardwoods for the future.
