We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Alina Hibbert from Sherborne, the plant designer who took gold at this year's RHS Malvern Spring Festival with her indoor show garden, Back to Grandma's House.
It is a story about more than horticulture, it is about finding your way back to what you love, and trusting yourself enough to see it through.

Some of the most fascinating wildlife moments happen in the smallest corners of the garden.

We found this ladybird larva on a rose beside the back door at 10.30am this morning. By 2pm this afternoon, it had already transformed into a pupa — the next stage before emerging as an adult ladybug.

The rose has been covered in aphids, which we deliberately chose to leave untouched (we did an piece on this a few weeks ago and can be found on our website). While it can be tempting to intervene, aphids provide an important food source for wildlife further up the chain, including ladyugs, hoverflies, and birds.

It is a small example of something we often return to: gardens do not need to be perfect to be valuable. Sometimes giving nature a little space is enough for remarkable things to happen.

New to our range — a beautifully made British hand-forged garden trowel.

The sort of tool that feels reassuringly solid in the hand and is made to improve with years of use rather than wear out after a season.

Simple, practical, and crafted with the kind of traditional workmanship that is becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Now available through our website for £49.95 with free postage and packaging.

A regular visitor to the garden.

One of the simplest things we can do for hedgehogs is simply make space for them to pass through safely — a small gap beneath a fence, access to water, and somewhere quiet to feed.

Once they know a garden is welcoming, they often return.

We’ve recently expanded our range of seeds, many are British-grown, including many traditional cottage garden favourites.

There is something quietly optimistic about sowing seed at this point in the season — small beginnings that quickly become part of the wider garden over the months ahead.

New additions to our range from Copper & Green - beautifully made garden pieces that sit naturally within the space rather than compete with it.

Bee drinkers and decorative copper work, all made with the kind of craftsmanship that only improves as it weathers over time.

Now available through our website.

Today marks Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday.

For generations, he has changed the way people see the natural world - not simply as something to observe, but something to value, protect, and understand more deeply.

Much of the growing awareness around wildlife-friendly gardening, biodiversity, and our relationship with nature owes something to the years he has spent bringing these subjects into people's homes with clarity and care.

Happy Birthday Sir David, and thank you for an extraordinary contribution.

The Merrist Wood College display garden BBC Gardeners' World Magazine Spring Fair.

A well considered space, where structure and planting have been brought together with clarity. A good example of how design and planting can work as one.

Water moving through the landscape at Ninesprings.

Beginning as a calm, purposeful pond, then passing over a walkway and down into a waterfall — a simple sequence, but one that changes how the space is experienced.

A closer look at the BBC Gardeners' World Magazine “Make a Metre Matter” garden.

A series of one metre sections, each demonstrating something different — growing food, incorporating water, creating habitat, and supporting insects.

A simple idea, but one that shows what can be achieved, even in a small space when approached with intention.
