Somerset Council is now collecting non-black plastic plant pots in kerbside collections.

We also continue to collect your old plastic pots for reuse in our garden centres.

Plastic plant pots can now be recycled from home in Somerset 🌱♻️
You can now put non-black plastic plant pots in your Bright Blue Bag with your other plastic pots, tubs and trays.
Please make sure they are empty and reasonably clean.
Black plastic plant pots aren't recyclable and should go in the rubbish bin if they can’t be reused.

Alexa Blackmore, assistant manager of Brimsmore Gardens, has now raised over £12,000 for Greenfingers Charity, which creates therapeutic outdoor spaces for children's hospices across the UK, as she makes her final preparations to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next week. Naomi and Jacks in Wi******er, which provides expert care for seriously ill babies, children and young adults, will be the recipient of the money, so it can replace its small paved area with a vibrant and fully accessible outdoor space.

As well as receiving sponsorship through a JustGiving page for the 10-day Mount Kilimanjaro trek, Alexa has also held fundraising events at Brimsmore Gardens, which is part of The Gardens Group, including quiz nights, family events and restaurant specials. Alexa will be embarking on the zero-luxury adventure with 22 people from the gardening industry around the UK. Collectively the team aims to raise £200,000 to cover the cost of the Naomi and Jacks hospice garden.

Alexa will begin the Mount Kilimanjaro trek on Wednesday 10 June, trekking the Lemosho route, the longest and most scenic route, spanning five distinct climate zones.

Sponsorship donations can still be made at justgiving.com/page/alexasarahkilimanjarogreenfingers and each of The Gardens Group’s garden centres continue to collect donations at the tills.

Good luck Alexa!

What did we find under The Walled Garden terrace?

🌟 Our Buddy Bench Has Arrived! 🌟
We were delighted to welcome our brand-new Buddy Bench this morning, kindly supplied by Poundbury Garden Centre (The Garden Group).
A huge thank you to our fantastic Junior Governors, who thoughtfully chose the bench to support friendship and kindness across our school. 💛
We can’t wait to see it being used as a place where children can sit, make new friends and look out for one another.

A little shout out to some of our suppliers based very close to Brimsmore Gardens.

Working with local businesses means we can keep our carbon footprint to a minimum while also having the confidence that we’re working with people who share our values.
