Studio office converted to a cosy snug. What a slog this one was. From crumbling lath and plaster that was over lined, the paste was perishing and plaster underneath crumbling. The walls and ceilings had previously been brushed and heavily filled which required a large amount of time and effort to flat back, then filled to take out the dips and rises from plaster that had been daubed on some of the walls along with the visible heavy brush marks. So much so that the tops of skirting boards had been covered in plaster and had to be shaved back to regain right angled edges, batons and plasterboard plugs fitted in a crumbly ceiling to cover redundant downlighters, sheeting off layers of old gloss on the door and skirting boards that had to be taken back to a solid surface, fitting coving to walls that weren't true and the cove wanted to spring off. Then to top it all off the colour required 4 coats to go solid, some colours are classed as low hide, meaning they lack opacity and have to be built up. This colour had to be mixed into a clear translucent base to obtain the depth. The paint used was Tikkurila UK Optiva 3 dead flat durable matt, Tikkurila AR2 anti reflective paint (tinted to Slipper Satin) on the ceiling and Little Greene intelligent eggshell on the woodwork. The walls and wood are Light Bronze Green an LG colour. The finished result looked good, but it isn't an experience we want to have to repeat anytime soon, it became quite demoralising and draining and I don't mind admitting we made a financial loss on this job. It does happen, anyway we move on :)
