I'm planning to retire from regular garden maintenance at the end of this 2025 season, after many years of incredibly fulfilling work and wonderful customer relationships. However, it got me thinking that I've got so much knowledge and experience that can be shared and utilised, and it would be a shame not to put that to use. So ...... I was thinking of offering "Gardening Master Classes" in the comfort of your gardens. I'm thinking of one on one sessions - how to prune, propagate, cultivate, weeding, pond care, lawn care, pretty much anything! I'd love to know what you think.

I know I've not updated for a long time, and that's because I haven't really felt the need - I've been busy but on my terms, turning down 3-4 requests per week for work when I've got enough to do for the hours I want to put in. It still amazes me that people think you have spare capacity during the season - why would a good gardener not be fully utilised? !! Anyway, we're going away next week for our end of season break to Egypt. I do have some limited availability during winter for makeovers and soft landscaping. Here at SGS HQ we still have a beautiful colour filled garden! Best wishes friends

On the last day of the regular gardening season I'm in my shorts, working my way around an old tree stump, using the long reach petrol hedge cutter to trim back a tricky 10ft high bush. I feel a stinging sensation on my legs and think nettles. Look down and there's a few dozen wasps attacking my bare legs! Anyone passing by would have wondered what the loony was doing jumping around, screaming about "bastard little sh # " and waving a revving killing machine like a tennis racket. You couldn't make it up!!

Such a disappointing year in the gardens here in North Norfolk, due to lack of water and extreme heat. Here at SGS HQ the only things that are flourishing are the pots as I can control them. However, if your lawn looks dead like ours, fear not, it will come back spectacularly in a few weeks

I'm still getting 4-5 requests a week for regular garden maintenance. At this time of year all good gardeners are fully booked until the end of the season (end October). I will have four months from November to do garden makeovers and give you back a beautiful garden, but until then,.... Sorry!

Well the forecast here in Sheringham is rain from 2pm Monday right through until late Tuesday, so it's a 7am start Sunday doing lawn feeds and a super busy day on Monday before the welcome rain comes ( fingers crossed)
