Who has spotted our ‘Ice Follies’ daffodils under the front hedge? We think they are looking particularly lovely this year. Show us photos of your daffodils in the comments - we love seeing their springtime colour.

Preparations are underway for sowing the heat-loving vegetables in the coming days. The propagators had a bath in a plant safe cleaner so we are all ready to sow aubergines, peppers and chillies.
If you are thinking about sowing these, make sure you have adequate warm space with plenty of light for when you need to prick them out. If you don’t, leave it a few weeks until the hours of daylight increase. 🍆 🫑 🌶️ 🌱

What a beautiful day it has been today! Spring is most definitely on its way as seen in these photos of our bare-root field taken in this evening’s sun.
Planting bare-root is a cost effective way of establishing fruit trees and hedging. Usually they are on sale until the end of March, but if they break dormancy, we may have to stop earlier. As ever, we are happy to offer advice if you need any.

Today is one of Anna’s favourite days of the year. No - not Valentine’s Day ❤️ 🙂 The first day of sowing vegetable seeds for 2026. 🌱 💚

If you are sowing vegetable seeds this year and haven’t started yet, don’t worry. Light levels are increasing all the time and temperatures are chilly. Focus on hardy veg like radish, turnips and broad beans for the time being.

We are so pleased to see a rain and wind free day here at the nursery - at least so far!
There is much activity as the new growing season is imminent. Nick is constructing new benches to replace some of the tired ones - under close supervision of course.

We have assessed site this morning and feel the quantity of ice on our drives and car park makes it too unsafe to open today. We will grit, shovel and hope the promised thaw comes ready for tomorrow. Stay safe everyone!
