Plants are the most beautiful things but there are other things of beauty too.
I'd like to give a shout out to two talented, local businesses.
Victoria from loveheartsanddaisies who made me this beautiful Russian wedding ring. All of her creations are wonderful and clearly made with love.
And Emma from Cuddle Me Cashmere who makes the softess fingerless gloves among many other beautiful accessories. Check out the baby boots they're ridiculously cute!

This year is Bare Earth Plants 25th Birthday.
Having designed 100's of gardens and planted 1000's of plants, even been trusted with a couple of weddings! There are some people I would like to thank.

Firstly, the customers, I've met some really lovely people along the way and have really enjoyed making outside spaces for people to entertain and relax in.

The Derwen. The best garden centre for miles. Nev, Nic and the team have not only been reliable suppliers providing exceptional plants, I've also had consistent support, friendship, hugs and cups of tea.

Marina Wilson and Lou Oliver, who came alongside to learn horticulture and both now run successful small businesses. They both brought more than just curious minds to the business, they have been a huge help and support on many projects not to mention to me personally.

My golden girls .. Hilary, Shelia and Pat. It has been a pleasure working for them for decades and a privilege to have firm friendships too.

Golden Balls ... Mick Hills Landscaping Ben Mileham. Both wonderful men but also geniuses who do all the hard work making any vision a reality. I'd be lost without them.

And finally, the late, great Li Zak. Who not only encouraged the dream way back in 1999, but also helped care for my very young daughter so I was able to study horticulture. For 20 yrs, we worked together in gardens and rested together in gardens and I will cherish that forever 🙏

It's that time for apple tree pruning.
Took some time to reflect while 10ft up a tree yesterday.
I've been climbing and pruning trees for 20+ years now. But this year I suddenly realised I'm no longer the 30yr old my head thinks I am.
There's maybe a year or two left in me .. this sort of work is physically tough.
So catch me while you can and I can teach you how to prune your fruit trees!

I've got a bee in my bonnet about how self employed tradesmen are sometimes treated by some customers.
Please, people ... bear in mind. When self employed people face life's more uncomfortable or difficult situations, there is no company behind them to cover the work they have booked in. There's no sick pay. There's no compassionate leave for the personal experiences that leave you literally debilitated and doing the best you can in the moment.
3 weeks ago I lost my best friend. He was the one thing that gave me motivation to keep moving, and that, literally, kept me sane. I am very much still trying to navigate how my life works without my sidekick.
There have been so many clients, old and new, that get it, and I thank those so much for your kindness and patience 🙏

Had a lovely early morning trip to Derwen Garden Centre. I feel very blessed to have had such a great working relationship with them for the last 23 years.
But more than that ... some of the long term staff there have become friends. They are wonderful souls who have no idea how much their love and hugs lately, really do make a difference.
There's so much beauty in Autumn, leaf colour and berries/fruits. Extend colour through the seasons and add some of these beauties to your planting list.

Today was tough. Milos last day was spent in his and my favourite garden. Today I had to return solo and it was so very hard. But it felt right to start again where we left off. My awesome client S gave me the lovely photo she took a few years ago, from her window, of Milo waiting at the back door for her. He really loved being there and he loved her too. There will never be another boy in my life like this boy but I do know how lucky I was to have had him at all.
Keep chasing those balls my darling boy ... x 💔

Many of my clients will known this face.
My boy, my garden sidekick, my Milo.
Sadly we had to say goodbye last week and my world is shattered.
Thank you to all those who welcomed him into your gardens over the years 🙏
