A recent call out to a property where regular debris build up was happening on the appliances and sanitaryware.
This type of debris is often mistaken for salt, however this particular issue is due to a baffle inside an unvented cylinder.
The baffle inside the cylinder is made of specialized, high temperature plastic or ceramic material, this breaks down and works its way through the balanced hot and cold outlets of the system.
Symptoms of this can be a loss of pressure either immediately or a gradual drop off while the system is in use when runnings baths or showers.
There are tempory solutions, for a permanent fix the unvented cylinder was replaced.
Only plumbers or heating engineers who are qualified are legally allowed to install, service or repair unvented cylinders.
