This time my customer requested I make a cupboard to hide the obvious cables etc. I asked “what was happening with the bookcase?” Of which the reply was “it’s probably going to the bin”.

So I got the ideas flowing and quickly figured that it was quite possible that we could use the bookcase as a secret door! Turned out well I think.

This design has seen the bookcase reinforced, hung with heavy duty solid brass hinges and a hidden wheel underneath to aid with the weight of all of the books that will fill it. Two purposes in one solution.

A great result……plus a cool hiding place for the kids too 👏🏻👍🏻

71m2 of solid oak flooring, directly bonded to the floor.

All internal doors replaced with one adjusted to size for the understairs cupboard.

Handrails & spindles replaced with oak, and primed spindles. The newel caps were finished with my own design for that added touch.

The media wall was made to suit the new fireplace, finished off with a special piece of Oak atop. I included a secret access point for all electrical connections just in case the electrical items fail in future.

And to finish off…….a lovely gift from the customers. A great result all round 👍🏻🎅

Out with the old and in with the new….here are some updated & modernised oak handrails with square primed spindles I machined, supplied & fitted. The newel caps I made to my own design moulding to add that personal element.

A new frame with a pair of modern glazed doors was installed recently. The customer requested the possibility of having the new side glass with the same vertical frosted pattern as the doors.

A straight forward request I presumed, however a few glazing companies I approached were unable to provide the pieces with either sand blasted lines, or glazing film applied.

I do enjoy a challenge so set to work on making the pattern myself in-house. After struggling to find the correct materials anywhere online I eventually found them locally, and the finish was absolutely perfect with attention and detail applied.

Not only were the customers thrilled with the overall outcome, I too have learnt, after 25 years, that something else is also possible for future projects. Bespoke woodwork and glazing at its best!

A returning customer needed some oak doors fitting and adjusting to suit the roof of their new extension. These are engineered oak doors, adjusted and laminated to get the job completed.

With the correct knowledge, experience and know how, it is possible to adjust almost any engineered door to suit different openings.

Having recently been asked to supply and fit quite a few oak doors, I was happy to get the tools out.

This customer used us 6 years ago and remembered that we are known for quality and courtesy. We have since been asked to carry more works that will be shown shortly.

This fantastic customer requested a like-for-like door style as the old existing one and something to last as long, some 50+ years!

Whilst I cannot ‘guarantee’ the materials to last that long, I will apply every piece of confidence in the 25 years of experience gained in making handmade items, to use the correct materials for such a project.

This project will be sure to last the test of time now, whilst selecting the correct timber, ironmongery and best woodworking practices to achieve the final result…….I hope you all like it and its traditional style as much as I do.

It’s worth noting that handmade details & knowledge are the best options to stand the test of time…..support locally handmade👍🏻
