"At the age of 50 this is the first time I have ever installed a ’new kitchen’ so it had to be perfect as I have no intention of changing it any time soon! Myself, and my contractor were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the units and doors. Everything is solidly built and very easy to install.
I discovered DIY Kitchens after searching for kitchen styles, which I liked online. I wanted a ‘handmade’ look without the price tag which goes with it. In saying that the kitchen was still very bespoke.
I found designing and planning very easy with the planning tool, and I have to praise the endless patience of the customer service team, as I made many alterations along the way and had many (many) questions before I finally hit the order button.
I had the cabinets under the seating side of the island and the wall units made deeper than standard, to ensure that I could maximise storage and keep the worktops clear. I also created pocket sliding doors on the breakfasting pantry and also below the oven and island, to house an air fryer and microwave, to allow for ease of access and circulation whilst in use, but the doors can be closed and everything hidden away.
The bespoke colour option, matching my colour palette meant that I could get the pink island I’d always dreamed of and could compliment the colour with the wall units.
The pricing of the units was the biggest surprise. No-one can believe what I paid for the kitchen, especially due to the ‘bespoke’ nature of many of the units. I did source my worktop independently however, but overall I made savings of around £15K over the handmade quote I received for what is arguably a more practical kitchen.
I am so delighted with the final kitchen and still pinch myself every time I walk into the room."
