J Shipley and Co. Heating Limited J. Shipley & Co. are a Central Heating Company based in South Shields, covering the North East area. The name of J. Shipley. Shipley extended family. Trusted Trader.

Shipley has been synonymous with plumbing in South Tyneside now for over sixty years. At the beginning of World War II all tradesmen were drafted into the Nationalized industries, such as shipyards, coal mines and various factories to manufacture much needed goods. Mr Shipley as a time served pipe-fitter was no exception. When the hostilities were over Mr Shipley invested in a property on Dean

Road, which even today is known as J. Many plumbers on South Tyneside owe their craft to Mr Shipley, he also went on to become a Lecturer at the local college. Mr Shipley commanded respect and admiration from his customers for his honesty, integrity and the quality of service provided. Unfortunately in 1968 due to ill health Mr Shipley was forced to retire. A meeting was arranged with the present owner’s father Albert Surtees with a view to the present owner’s father purchasing the business in Dean Road, the sale was agreed with the proviso that the name of Shipley be retained and the promise that Albert would keep the good will and the respected name of J. Nigel, Albert’s son worked his way through the business and took over completely a number of years ago. The third generation of the Surtees family in the form of Nigel’s son Anthony, after serving his apprenticeship with the company is now a fully qualified engineer with the company, in order to carry on the proud tradition of the J. Through Training and Technology our staff are dedicated to exceeding customer’s expectation and work to a very high standard. J Shipley & Co are delighted to have been awarded Which? Trusted Trader status. We have recently passed the rigorous assessment process required in order to become a Which? The “Which? Some well-deserved recognition for Luke, who has reached his 100th boiler install this year🥳

Anyone who has had Luke install their boiler has been very lucky. His attention to detail, professionalism, and work ethic are second to none.

Luke joined Shipleys as a 16-year-old apprentice and was outstanding throughout his four years of training. After completing his apprenticeship, he was taken on as a Heating Engineer and has continued to go from strength to strength.

At just 21 years old, reaching 100 boiler installs this year is a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and commitment he brings to every job. We're incredibly impressed with the engineer he has become and proud to have him as part of the team.

Keep up the great work, Luke, you're a real credit to yourself and to Shipleys!👏🔧🔥
