Hello to all our new followers.... sorry that the page has been a bit quiet, busy times, but will post a bit more regular with updates, handy tips and tricks, and methods proven not to get you in a pickle with your keys.

Your security matters, this page will not show details of methods of entry, key or car details. There are some questionable videos out there on social media and I wouldn't be happy if I owned a car that suddenly became Tik-tok, Instagram, or facebook famous.

Take care of your keys, and pick wisely who you choose to work on your vehicle. Its not just 'cheap and quick' locksmiths, it extends to mechanics and valeters too.

An interesting job.... this was the boot loom of a BMW E91 that runs to the diversity ariel which senses the keyless entry remote. The module itself is susceptible to water damage, but its not helped by the fact that the loom goes through a series of bends from the spoiler to the inside of the car..... opening and closing the tailgate moves the loom slightly..., not a problem initially, but as wires age they become brittle and less flexible, and this one had broken all 4 connections.... so after a quick test, a new loom was made up and soldered in and keyless functions restored 👍

Although we havent.posted much its been a busy summer season. Problems ranging from an AKL situation, to non start issues due to cluster issues, and water ingress in modules with the recent rain thats followed the exceptionally long dry spell. Rubber seals quickly dry out and perish, leading to cracks....

Normally these modules form part of the immobiliser chain, which is the very first thing a modern car checks on powering up, wether all its modules match and are programmed to each other. If there is any mismatch, which can be caused by failure anywhere in the associated curcuits, the immobiliser light is the first thing to come on, indicating a fault.

Being able to diagnose that fault and then find what is causing that fault to flag up is an important part of the service, you dont just change a pump when it reports low pressure.... you remove the blockage in the supply pipe....

I as a business, spend a lot of my own free time, researching customers vehicles and common issues, reading car related repair forums and sites and keeping up with the modern vehicle and integrated systems, and that way i can offer customers the right advice and provide a specialist service locally and with local, not national prices 👍👍

We have just recieved stock of the MK7 Ford Transit blue remotes. These are very expensive brand new retailing around £250/£300. We can now supply the refurbished Visteon originals, having brand new rechargeable batteries and new buttons where required. We were out yesterday, out today and we will be out tommorow to deal with your key emergencies!

The good news from today was I had 2 calls to home addresses with dogs locked within cars, both cancelled before my arrival and both happened in the same circumstances..... long story short, never place your car keys on the boot carpet where your dog can tread on the lock button! Both were puppies and still very excitable, so with enough coaching, in both instances the dogs were encouraged to tread on the fobs again in the right place... both only had one key.... until next week, as the stress and the inconvenience caused was "absolutely phenomenal" in their words!!!!

So if that key is the only one, call me up for another one done..... you'll thank yourself.

It has come to our attention that there is somebody locally selling car keys, the reason this has cropped up is because we were asked to cut blades for fobs that this person is selling. Be aware.... as we all know, cheap isn't good, and good isn't cheap.

I have had years of experience in the trade and I am equipped to deal with the many problems that key programming can bring. There is always a risk when programming ECU's and procedures to minimise that risk, someone on a scooter selling cloned keys will have no backup when the vehicle gets bricked 👍

Don't be tempted by cheap products, they won't last.

For those of you with keyless vehicles (push button start/proximity keys), please consider extra security. This can come in the form of steering wheel locks, pedal box locks and lockable obd/diagnostic port covers. Faraday pouches are a good investment too and will save all the hassle and inconvenience, increased insurance premiums just by taking a few simple steps. With that said, enjoy the festive season and we will be here providing only an emergency service throughout the public holidays.

Here's a local post just to remind you how easy and how ruthless these criminals can be, so please, do not make it easy for them.
