Houghtons of Hampshire Houghtons of Hampshire has been established on the South Coast since 1995 and covers a semi-circle from Poole to London to Brighton.

Over the years we have maintained a steady and consistent work force. We have completed work varying from museums to cutting edge ‘Grand Designs’ featured homes, as well as our regular customer base, many of which have been loyal customers for over 31 years. Every job is completed without compromise to our strong belief that a quality job is the only job and ”Excellentia ut vexillum”. We have been

decorators in the local area and London for the past 18 years and specialise in the finest quality interior and exterior decoration of properties from cutting edge to period homes. We also specialise in traditional airless spraying and we were pioneers in this field in Hampshire some 15 years ago. We cover Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey and surrounding areas and we have serviced a number of private homes of QC’s and Barristers in London and surrounding areas. We are not just good with paint, but are also creative and imaginative and advise our clients on colours and design. We have a real passion for getting it right.

Hi guys,
Sorry for the radio silence! As I’m sure you are all aware, we have always sprayed alongside our regular decorating work but we took the decision just before the pandemic to set up a sister company called iSprayit which is purely dedicated to respraying kitchens and furniture. It has been a complete whirlwind, taking on more members of staff and changing industrial units twice in order to upsize to keep up with the demand. That said, all the hard work has paid off and we are now second in the country with our clean sheet of 5 star reviews for Trustpilot, Google and Facebook. We are looking at refocusing on Houghton’s decorating work from spring 2023. We wish you all a fine Christmas and a healthy and happy new year!

The dining room . . .
Probably the most damp room in the house and it really showed in the peeling ceiling paint and rotten woodwork when we first arrived. Wall paper was stripped on the first day, the ceiling needed scraping, washing, filing, a sprayed mist coat, more filling and sanding and a final sprayed coat - it was a real labour of love!
Unfortunately some of the panelling to the lower half of the room was too rotten to be saved so we had to remove it and make good the wall beneath - no damp has come back through yet so fingers crossed!
All finished in Farrow and Ball's Peignoir with Wimborne White woodwork.

The story of the sitting room . .

Wallpaper stripped and the ceiling had to be washed down three times due to damp and mildew. 70s cladding covering up old damp round the lower half of the room was removed. Sprayed ceilings and a full redecoration, it came up a treat!

Doing what we do best and getting some ceilings sprayed up to a base coat. A light mist coat to cover a lot of filler, some of the rooms were very rough - so far we have used 25kgs of filler!!
