Here at Hampshire carnivorous plants we have been growing carnivorous plants for some thirty five years and for the last fifteen of those years, exhibiting at Royal Horticultural Society shows around the country. During this time we have been awarded in excess of 100 R.H.S. gold medals (this includes 19 consecutive Chelsea 'Golds') attaining both the Witan and Anthony Huxley Awards in 1998. Since

2000 we have won 'Best in Show' awards at Gardening Scotland, Malvern Autumn , BBC Gardeners world live,RHS Tatton Park and National Amateur Gardening Shows.Our highest award to date was The Tudor Rose Award at the 2004, 2010 and 2011 Hampton Court Palace flower shows. We have recently moved to our new site in Horton heath where the plants are now housed in 1/4 acre venlo greenhouse, the plants get uninterrupted sunlight from sunrise to sunset which is great especially for the Sarracenia and venus fly traps which colour up exeptionally well during the growing season. We sell an extensive range of top quality carnivorous plants, books, composts and sundry items for both the 'beginner' and the keen enthusiast. We use an efficient courier service - when plants leave us they arrive with you the next day, and in most cases are sent ready potted. All of our plants are packed with great care, and can be sent out at all times of the year if you wish. Once your order is received we will acknowledge it by email, so be sure to include this information, together with a contact mobile telephone number, we can then advise you each step of the way, right through to dispatch and arrival date. Any special instructions, like say, where your parcel should be left should you not be at home, or any particular day you would like it to arrive can be accomodated. Almost everyone recognizes the Venus flytrap.

Its lightning-fast trap, razor-like teeth, and insect-catching abilities have made it one of the most famous plants on Earth. It appears in documentaries, classrooms, gardens, and even movies.

But few people realize something surprising.

In the wild, this legendary plant naturally grows in only a very small part of the world.

Its native home is limited to a narrow region of the Carolinas in the southeastern United States, where unique wet pine savannas create the exact conditions it needs to survive. Outside this area, wild Venus flytraps are incredibly rare.

The secret to its unusual behavior lies beneath its roots.

The soil where Venus flytraps grow is extremely poor in nutrients. Most plants struggle in these conditions, but the Venus flytrap evolved an extraordinary solution. Instead of relying solely on the ground for nutrition, it became a hunter.

Sensitive trigger hairs inside each trap can detect unsuspecting insects. When touched in the right pattern, the trap snaps shut with astonishing speed, capturing prey and allowing the plant to absorb valuable nutrients that the soil cannot provide.

What looks like a simple plant is actually one of nature's most remarkable survival specialists.

Today, conservationists work to protect wild populations from habitat loss and illegal collection, ensuring that this iconic species continues to thrive in the rare environment that shaped its evolution.

The next time you see a Venus flytrap, remember that behind its famous snap lies a story of adaptation, survival, and one of the smallest natural ranges of any well-known plant on Earth.
