If you are looking to reduce energy bills this winter check to make sure your loft insulation is properly fitted across all the roof areas and make sure you have a least three layers, one between the ceiling joists and other layers across the other way. If possible try and fit to upper side of loft hatch. Also check to see if any draughts are coming through doors and windows, especially if you have metal or wooden windows. These can be reduced by simply fitting draught excluders.

Party Wall etc. Act 1996
Debby Osman and Heather Nutbourne attended a 2 day training course in June 2016 in respect to party wall matters to enhance their existing knowledge and experience. They are now both members of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS) and are fully trained in dealing with all matters relating to the Act.
The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 provides a framework for preventing and resolving disputes in relation to party walls, boundary walls and excavations near neighbouring buildings.
A building owner proposing to start work covered by the Act must give adjoining owners notice of their intentions in the way set down in the Act. Adjoining owners can agree or disagree with what is proposed. Where they disagree, the Act provides a mechanism for resolving disputes.
The Act is separate from obtaining planning permission or building regulations approval.

Are you aware of your liability in respect to maintaining and managing emergency escape stairway? When did you last check your fire escape stairway? Are you aware of your statutory obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in respect to maintaining your staircase? …………….Facilities managers and site managers should be aware that checks to external fire escape staircases should be undertaken on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, annually and on a 3 - 5 year basis). While the weekly and monthly tests can generally be undertaken in-house by a competent person, the annual and 3 - 5 year checks may require a more detailed approach and report provided by a specialist. Our chartered surveyor can undertake detailed surveys for both individuals and schools starting from approximately £300.00 for a single two storey external staircase. This cost includes a site visit and detailed report highlighting areas of concerns along with recommendations for remedial works. ghd partnership are pleased to announce that they raised a total of £307.31 for Macmillan Cancer Support from the coffee morning held on 25th September 2015. Thank you to all our clients and friends for your generosity and support.

ghd partnership staff hosted a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support for the local community and some local builders. All the cakes were made by the staff and a couple were donated by a few local business. We still have a lot of prizes left over, from our tombola so if you would like to try and win a prize, pop in and have a go. It would be great to see you and we might even have some cakes left over!
