MAC Groundwork Contractors Ltd With over 20 years’ experience, MAC Groundwork Contractors Ltd delivers high-quality civil engineering, groundworks, and surfacing solutions across the UK.

Based in Stafford, we serve sectors including commercial, residential and sports and leisure. Our hand lay teams have many years of experience in all aspects of surfacing, from small domestic driveways to play parks, footpaths and all the way through to major highway surfacing contracts, ground works and drainage. We are also experts in related fields of play park installations and multi user game

areas (MUGA). Be it machine lay or hand lay, we have a variety of staff and equipment suitable for any road surfacing contract. We pride ourselves on our quality of workmanship and are driven to find new ways to serve our customers by delivering the highest quality work to deadline. Our staff training and experience means that customers can be assured that our work will always be carried out to the highest standard. Working to the finest tolerances, our brand new laser track Bitelli Paver is suitable for most surfacing contracts that require finished surfaces to be within + / - 3-5mm, therefore making the machine highly suitable for multi-use games areas(MUGAs) as well as other sports and leisure applications.

MEET THE TEAM: STUART HOPTROFF, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

This week marks 15 years since Stuart Hoptroff joined MAC Groundworks. Since 2011, Stuart has progressed through a range of roles to become Executive Director, building expertise across business management, commercial performance, and strategic planning along the way.

His hands-on understanding of the business has enabled him to streamline internal systems, strengthen operational efficiency, and support sustainable growth across all areas of the company. He has been instrumental in securing ISO 9001 and NHSS accreditations, and his structured approach to forecasting, budgeting, and decision-making continues to support the long-term stability of the business.

The upgrade of the cycle route in Gilwern has now been successfully completed.

The scheme included resurfacing works with the application of a tack coat and a 14 mm Dense Binder overlay, together with tree root protection measures to preserve the surrounding environment.

The upgrade improves the quality of the route for social and leisure cycling, helping to create a more inviting shared‑use space for all users.

Project Update – BMX Track Resurfacing Complete 🚲

We’re excited to share the finished site, as resurfacing works at the BMX track are now fully complete.

🌳 Transforming Bloxwich & Leamore Parks, Walsall

As part of a wider investment in improving local green spaces, Walsall Council undertook the regeneration of two well‑used public parks: Bloxwich Park and Leamore Park. The aim was to upgrade the play areas, improve accessibility and create safe, welcoming spaces the community can enjoy for years to come.

All works were carefully carried out around mature trees, established pathways and key community features, all while keeping both parks partially open throughout the programme.

The result is two revitalised parks featuring safer pathways, modern themed play areas, accessible routes and newly landscaped spaces. These improvements support healthier, more active lifestyles and year‑round community use.

MAC Groundwork Contractors Ltd is a leading UK groundworks contractor and we’re growing. We’re now looking for a Sales Coordinator (Internal Sales) to support our estimating team and help drive sales activity across the business.
This role is ideal for someone organised, proactive and commercially minded, with experience in construction or a similar environment.

Key responsibilities include:
• Managing sales enquiries and internal sales processes
• Following up quotations and identifying new opportunities
• Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Maintaining accurate CRM and sales data
• Supporting estimating and commercial teams

About you:
• Construction industry experience preferred
• Background in sales coordination or internal sales
• Strong admin, communication and organisational skills
• CRM experience desirable (HubSpot experience an advantage)
