We often get asked whether you can repot a plant directly into a decorative pot, and our advice is usually not to.
🪴
We’d recommend keeping plants in a plastic nursery pot (or a terracotta pot) with drainage holes. This allows any excess water to escape, rather than sitting at the bottom of the pot which can lead to root rot. 🥀
🪴
When it comes to watering 💦, it’s best to take the plant out of its decorative pot and water it over a sink, bowl, or bath etc then place it back once you’re finished. If that’s not possible, always check after around 30 minutes to make sure there’s no water sitting in the bottom of the pot, and empty it out if there is.
🪴
That said, there are no strict rules - some plants will be absolutely fine planted directly into a pot without drainage, as long as you’re not too generous with the watering!

If you are repotting, don’t forget we’ve got plenty of plastic pots you can help yourself to. You’ll find them in a basket under the big table upstairs 🧺
