Just completed a Garage Lintel replacement.
This original lintel was an angle iron spanning 5mtrs in bare steel, built in the 70's. !
Its corrosion over time has made the steel expand with rust from its original 11mm thickness to its now coroded thickness of 23mm.
Corrosion is very powerfull attacking masonary,in this case lifted the garage brickwork each side to break open the joints for the elements to get in.You can see the original cracks on our pics.
We have taken down the front faced damaged brickwork.
Replaced the corrded lintel with the correct Universal beam (ub) metal treated for that spread.
Built up in new brickwork.
