This gorgeous clematis is a deciduous climbing plant that flowers during April and May. It has large, nodding pink flowers edged in a silvery pink colour. It is ideal for a sunny position, but keep the roots in shade. Clematis Jacqueline du Pre is a hardy climber that will grow to around 2.5 metres tall.

This popular evergreen border perennial is an essential spring plant. Its bright red new growth soon turns to pink and later to cream. It has small clusters of flowers similar to lily of the valley which appear in spring with the striking foliage colour.

Pieris need neutral or acid soil and a sheltered sunny or partially-shaded site. New growth will need protection from late frosts. Pieris Forest Flame can grow to a height of up to 4 metres, but it is a relatively slow-growing shrub.

Plant of the week - Agapanthus africanus: A summer flowering bulbs.
It has robust, deep green foliage that fills the flower border at ground level and tall, strong flowering stems that bear large bunches of purple-blue flowers that explode out of the buds like fireworks.
The flowers are long lasting throughout the summer and it requires little watering. Many types are available including the white variety agapanthus africanus albus and the almost black agapanthus, black pantha.
It's also available in pink.
Coming from southern Africa, it loves a sunny spot in the garden.
It is an excellent plant for containers as it likes its roots to be tightly packed. Over the next month is a good time to plant it.
Feed fortnightly and water in the growing season and it will bloom in July and August.
