A family run business where all of the ware is Handmade by Paul. Paul has spent the last 45 years as a potter coming from a family of potters. Prior to setting up Peregrine Pottery Paul worked as head caster at Emma Bridgewater for 25 years, were is ex work colleagues remarked his casting bench was like a surgeons table. Paul hand produces his teapots from 3 moulds, the body, the lid and the spout
,
the reason for this is so he can pierce the body of the teapot where he sticks on the spout. The piercings consist of 7 holes that form what is known as a rose, which allows the
tea to flow gradually into your cup rather than the woosh of a large hole. Pauls attention to detail doesnt stop at his teapots, he takes time to clean the rim of every jug. He puts setters on every mug from the moment they are removed from the mould through to the biscuit firing, this process keeps the mugs in shape. His sugar pot and small cream/milk jug were designed to hold the right amount of sugar/jam/cream and in keeping with the proportion of the elegant shapes of the range. Pauls ware is the perfect canvas for Joanne’s sponge ware designs, inspired from their garden and their love for all things British all lovingly applied by Joanne
