Thank you to our wonderful Revival volunteers 🩵

This Volunteers' Week, we were delighted to celebrate the incredible volunteers who support Revival and the people we work alongside.

Our befriending volunteers give something truly special: their time. Through regular conversations, companionship and a listening ear, they help reduce loneliness, build confidence and bring connection to people's lives.

At our volunteer celebration event at Potbank, we had the opportunity to say thank you in person and recognise the difference they make every single day.

The kindness, patience and commitment shown by our volunteers helps people feel seen, valued and supported. We couldn't do what we do without you.

A huge thank you to Lorraine, one of our amazing befrienders, who recently completed specialist training focused on supporting people living with visual impairment 💙

At Revival, we know that staying connected and independent means different things for different people. That’s why we’re committed to making sure our befriending service is inclusive, accessible and tailored to individual needs.

Lorraine took part in the learning session to better support someone she had recently been matched with who is experiencing significant sight loss. The training explored practical ways to support independence, confidence and connection, showing how small adjustments and greater understanding can make a big difference.

It’s inspiring to see the care, compassion and dedication our volunteers bring to the people they support every day. 👏

We believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported and treated with dignity in the place they call home 💙

David’s story highlights the importance of compassionate, joined-up support during some of life’s most difficult moments.

As David’s health needs changed, Revival worked alongside NHS teams, Adult Social Care and specialist providers to help him remain safely and comfortably in his own home, the place that mattered most to him.

Through regular visits, reassurance and practical support, our trusted team helped provide stability, companionship and continuity while longer-term care arrangements were put in place.

Thanks to this collaborative approach, David was able to remain at home with dignity, comfort and the right support around him throughout his final chapter.

Stories like David’s show the difference personalised support and strong partnerships can make for individuals and their families during times of uncertainty.

We know that living independently is about more than just having a home, it’s about feeling connected, confident and supported 💙

John’s story shows the life-changing impact that the right support and companionship can have.

After experiencing isolation and struggling with limited social connection, John was supported by Revival to move into a safer environment and access our Befriending Service. Through regular conversations and meaningful support from his befriender, John began rebuilding his confidence, reconnecting with others, and rediscovering his sense of purpose.

Inspired by his love of chess, John even went on to create a chess group within his community, helping him form new friendships and feel more connected to those around him.

Today, John feels more positive, more confident, and is now preparing to become a befriender himself to support others experiencing loneliness and isolation.

Stories like John’s show how a simple connection can make a huge difference in helping people live independently and feel part of a community again.

Supporting your independence, every step of the way 💙

At Revival, we know that building confidence and exploring new opportunities can feel overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to do it alone.

On Wednesday 4 June, from 1pm–4pm at 308 London Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 5AB, we’re hosting a friendly drop-in session with the Jobs, Education & Training Team from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, open to all Honeycomb Group customers.

Whether you’re interested in learning new skills, exploring training opportunities, returning to work, or simply finding out what support is available, our trusted team and the team will be there to help guide and support you.

Together, we can help you:

✨ Discover transferable skills
✨ Explore education and training
✨ Take positive steps towards greater independence

“Having someone there to listen, encourage and simply spend time with made such a difference.” 💙

After a hospital stay and ongoing health challenges, Mary found everyday things becoming more difficult and isolating. Through Revival’s Befriending Service, regular visits, friendly chats, gardening together and shared moments over cake helped her slowly rebuild her confidence and start enjoying life again.

With encouragement and support, Mary began taking important steps towards becoming more independent, including getting out to appointments on her own and feeling more positive about the future.

At Revival, our befriending service is about much more than companionship. It’s about helping people feel connected, valued and confident in their own lives again.
