Mr Murphy would, I'm sure, be wanting to thank all of you who have shown him kindness, welcome and love over his 13 years on earth.

For those whose eyes shone when they saw him, who kept treats in their cupboards in case he visited, who bought him Christmas gifts and birthday presents, who hugged him and played with him, he remained my most perfect little shadow and my best little buddy to the very end.

Today, the dreaded cancer took him from us, but he was his happy self right to the end and gently fell asleep in our arms.

We were so blessed. Life will never be the same.
