Nature's freebies! Who doesn't love a freebie?!

These lovely tall spires are foxgloves in my own garden, not one of which I planted.

Last year, there was one. After it had finished flowering, I waited for it to dry out on the stem, and then I shook it out and scattered the seeds.

And this year, I have 22 👏🎉

Quite pleased with that.

This is weigela (pronounced either wee-gel-a or wee-gee-la or anything in between) - isn't it lovely? It does lose its leaves over winter, but produces these gorgeous pink trumpet-shaped flowers in Spring.

I love it when it's been pruned to a rounder shape, but I equally love it when it's allowed to roam and drape.

Such a pretty shrub.

So, there are things that I get asked about a lot. One is, what do you suggest to feed the borders?

Well, this is what I use. Chicken manure pellets.

Admittedly, opening a tub/bag of these is like opening a bag of Scampi Fries 😖😱 But it doesn't smell like that when it's down.

Spread handfuls of it on your borders by hand. Just chuck it all over the place, no care, no attention, just w***y nilly. That's it.

It's organic, suitable for all plants, and is a great Spring starter. It's cheap. It's available in many brands. Every border needs a bit of love. Do it!

Beautiful display of fritillaria and saxifrage in one of my gardens this Spring.

Fritillaria comes as a bulb, so no need to look after it. At all. Will flower in Spring then disappear completely.

Saxifrage (the lower lying one with lots of little flowers) flowers in Spring but remains green all year round.

Another easy winner.

What a jolly Spring flowering combination - primroses and pulmonaria.

Both genuinely low maintenance. Literally require no care all year round - no watering, no feeding, no cutting back. Why wouldn't you?
