A little job from last week.

Solder some joysticks onto an Xbox elite 2 controller board.

I also noticed that a trace on the PCB was damaged so repaired that at the same time

Yesterday was a doors day!

My client’s front door need a new door seal and the threshold plate re securing to the floor.

The shed doors needed a few glass panels replacing, the threshold filling and a splash of paint, and lastly trimming down a bit so they could fully close properly.

That completes a nice long list of jobs over the past few weeks for this client including a leaking shed roof, a hole in a plasterboard wall to repair, some tripping electrics and a side table leg to repair too.

A customer asked if I could convert their portable water heater to run from a 12v car battery to a 3 pin household plug.

No problem. Although it also needed a 3v supply too. All sorted with a little circuit knocked up.

Out with the old and in with the new.

I had a hay steamer in which was tripping the customer’s electrics. The element had failed so a new one put in and the horses can have their nicely steamed hay again.

Steamed hay or steamed sprouts? Hmm a tough choice.

This TIG welder kept tripping the electrics, then started to smoke.

I found two capacitors which had caused the problem and a bunch more which had broken cases and likely to fail imminently.

All swapped out and it’s back up and running.

We had this wonderful Kenwood mixer in which stopped working with a huge puff of smoke!

You can see the capacitors and resistor that gave up. They certainly went with a pop!

New ones installed, some new motor brushes and treated it to some new rubber feet and it’s back to working like new.

Now I fancy some cake…
