🏗️ Site Progress Update

✔️ Demolition complete
✔️ Foundations and services channels dug out
✔️ Raft slab fully tied and poured
✔️ Steel reinforcement in place
➡️ Ready for shuttering to be formed for the new concrete retaining walls on this rear extension in Minchinhampton.

It’s always satisfying to see things coming together on site. Groundworks on this one have been tricky with tight access/waste removal, but the team are doing a great job navigating it and keeping everything moving.

There’s a huge amount of unseen effort (and money!) behind groundworks — but it is the kind of work that quietly sets the foundations for a good build.

Join us for the Fresh Standard's series Pro and a Pint- a relaxed drop‑in where you can enjoy a beer and chat with a local architect about your home, business, or any ideas you’re brewing. No pressure, no jargon, just friendly informal advice.

We shall be there from 7pm on Thursday 9th April, and come talk to Eva or Charlie.

Starting your own Architects Practice at 30 is a strange mix of waves of exhilaration and fear. Still considered “quite young”, and suddenly responsible for getting things right in a world of constant regulatory, climate and political change — all while the industry is still settling after Covid. There’s no safety net, just a commitment to doing things properly: understanding the latest standards, constant training, building a network of reliable professionals, earning the trust of clients, and learning from every misstep along the way.

The routines, the responsibilities, the pressure — they’ve all pushed us to grow faster than we expected. But we wouldn’t change it. There’s a real privilege in choosing the clients and projects that align with your values. In building genuine relationships. In being involved in every step of the journey, from the first sketch to having a cup of coffee in the completed building. And in shaping your days differently — not better or worse than traditional practice, just different, and very much our own.

There’s still so much to learn, and so much ahead. But despite all of it — or maybe because of it — I’m genuinely proud of what we’ve built so far.

No, this isn’t a quarry… but it easily could be.

Beneath the surface, the Cotswolds always have a few surprises.
This isn’t a quarry — it’s the starting point for rebuilding a home with semi‑sunk levels and proper tanking to protect it for decades to come.
Ground like this is exactly why early, honest collaboration with the right professionals matters.

We’ve been busy the last few weeks getting everything set up for a start on site at our project up in Minchinhampton. Not a bad commute from the office when you are greeted by wild horses on the way up. Cross checking measurements on site, demolition going well, drainage channels being dug and of course… Charlie having a quite word with the stone samples-essential part of the process

Transforming Family Spaces through thoughtful design 🤍✨
These visuals show how bespoke joinery can completely reshape a space—offering hidden storage for toys, books, and everyday essentials—proving that practicality and beauty can live side by side.

By exploring colour, materiality and layout early in the process, we ensure the joinery works hard day-to-day, allowing the clients to personalise the space through colour and texture. Which one do you preffer?
