Lucky escape….
We were asked to service a boiler this week which hadn’t been done for a year or two.
When we removed the cover it was immediately obvious the main burner seal had failed and was leaking fumes and heat inside the combustion chamber. Thankfully no fumes were able to get out and into the room.
After fitting a replacement seal and carrying out a desperately needed service we found the heat had melted the main heat engine causing a water leak and resulting in a costly repair.
Much more damage and the boiler would’ve been beyond repair.
Regular in depth servicing would’ve highlighted the problem long before it got to this point.
For the sake of safety and damage to your wallet please get your gas appliances checked annually.
A boiler service is only £70 including a full strip clean, all safety and performance checks, heating and hot water tested, radiators checked and bled with paperwork sent via email including a yearly reminder.
