A well-designed shading solution should become part of the architecture, not an addition to it.

For this renovated Hayling Island home, large south-facing windows created excessive solar gain while the homeowners also wanted greater privacy without compromising the contemporary appearance of the property.

We designed and installed this bespoke shading solution, integrating a premium aluminium louvred system to provide both shade and privacy while complementing the clean lines of the façade.

Finished in white to match the exterior, the 4.6m x 3.2m wall-mounted louvred panel was carefully designed to sit within the architectural reveal created by the homeowner. Fully motorised, the system allows light, shade and privacy to be adjusted effortlessly throughout the day.

To achieve a seamless installation, the shading system was integrated into the building design, ensuring the finished result looked as though it had always been part of the property.

Large areas of glazing bring natural light and contemporary style, but they can also lead to significant solar gain during the warmer months.

For this striking architectural home, we installed bespoke 5m x 3m retractable awnings alongside external solar shading blinds to help manage heat before it reaches the glass.

The awnings create comfortable outdoor living spaces, while the external blinds reduce glare and solar gain. When required, the blinds lower to provide effective shading, yet their unique kick-out design allows natural daylight to continue entering the home and maintains outward views.

External shading can reduce internal temperatures by up to 7°C, helping create a more comfortable living environment without sacrificing light or aesthetics.

Every successful outdoor living project starts with great design.

For this Reading home, the homeowner worked closely with their architect to transform the outdoor space and create a seamless connection between the house, outdoor kitchen and garden.

Hampshire Shades was appointed to design, manufacture and install a bespoke 5m x 6m oak pergola, carefully positioned to cover the seating and kitchen areas while complementing the wider architectural vision.

Unlike off-the-shelf structures, every oak pergola we create is manufactured to suit the individual project. Our oak is cut to our exact dimensions at a local sawmill before being hand-finished smooth, creating the premium appearance and detailing expected of a bespoke installation.

The pergola features a fully motorised roof, integrated LED lighting and heating, with discreet cable management hidden within the structure to maintain the clean architectural lines of the design.

Installed on concealed post bases, the result is an elegant outdoor room that can be enjoyed throughout the day and well into the evening, combining natural materials with modern comfort and functionality.

Modern glazing transforms a home by bringing in natural light, but without effective shading it can also create glare and unwanted heat.

For this recently extended Grade II property, the new kitchen extension required a solution that would complement the contemporary design while protecting the living space from solar gain.

We designed, manufactured and installed a bespoke 6m x 3.5m motorised awning in a matt black finish, carefully matched to the external cladding. To achieve a seamless appearance, our own specialist mounting brackets were engineered to fix directly into the structural steelwork behind the façade.

Every element of the installation was reviewed and approved by our structural engineer, ensuring both the appearance and performance matched the quality of the property.

The result is a shading solution that controls heat and glare at the touch of a button, helping create a more comfortable home while preserving the clean architectural lines of the extension.

We designed, manufactured and installed this bespoke Hampshire Shade solution, combining our modern cedar pergola design with a fully motorised kissing canopy arrangement. For this Surrey project, the homeowner wanted a pergola that would work with a circular patio while maintaining a seamless connection between the house and garden. Working closely together, we designed a bespoke 4m x 5m pergola tailored specifically to the space.

Installed over two days, the structure features a waterproof retractable roof, integrated side screens and LED lighting, creating an outdoor room that can be enjoyed from the hottest summer days through to cooler evenings.

Finished in a beautiful bronze frame with a champagne roof and macadamia side screens, the pergola was carefully specified to complement the property. The 3m installation height aligns perfectly with the French doors, helping create a natural extension of the home.

Featuring a waterproof Carbon Silver retractable roof and a 2.7m-high structure, it provides shade from the summer sun and shelter from unexpected showers, helping the terrace remain usable throughout the season.
