5 years ago when HGA designed the amazingly successful Surfability! The centre is always busy and HGA are immensely proud to have been part of their story.

We can hardly believe it, but this year marks five years since the Canthed Centre was built by DIY SOS. What an incredible five years it has been.

We’ve grown exponentially in that time, our team has gone from 4 to a whopping 21, and the Canthed Centre has been at the heart of it all. It’s been revolutionary for the work we do, providing our surfers with a warm, welcoming space, accessible changing areas with a ceiling track hoist, and a place to store and dry all our wetsuits.

It really is incredible, and we still pinch ourselves daily that we’re lucky enough to have it.

A massive thank you to Nick Knowles, our community and the entire DIY SOS team for making this dream a reality. Here’s to many more years of changing lives from the Canthed Centre! 🌊

Scaffolding down at this project on the Gower Peninsula, revealing both the existing stone cottage, lovingly restored, and its beautifully contrasting contemporary addition.

The extension replaces an old, ad-hoc addition, and is connected to the cottage by a fully glazed link housing a relocated stairwell and an enclosed bridge between old and new.

An open-plan kitchen/dining/living space occupies the ground floor, opening onto a terrace and garden kitchen via a fully glazed corner, exploiting views over Oxwich Point.

Bedrooms above are expressed as zinc-clad volumes, conceived as shadows of the distinctive double-pitched roof of the original cottage. A sedum roof over the remaining ground floor helps anchor the new addition into its gently sloping site.

Recent visit to a contemporary addition to a traditional Gower cottage.

The scope of works includes relocating a dark, cramped kitchen and dining space to the side of the existing dwelling beneath a sedum roof, connecting the heart of the home to the Client’s lovely garden.

The residual space to the rear is given over to a pantry, boot room, and study, all with bespoke joinery by , and curated interiors by .interiors

Winter sun on one of our many ongoing projects on the Gower AONB, this one overlooking Oxwich Point. Another close collaboration with .interiors, this extensive project fully refurbishes a former stone farmhouse and barns, and creates additional space in a contemporary zinc-clad extension, sensitively attached to the original dwelling by a fully glazed link. External works include a lap pool, tennis courts, kitchen garden, and extensive landscaping.

We are thrilled to announce that we have secured planning approval for a replacement dwelling, near to Three Cliffs Bay.

The proposed dwelling features covered outdoor spaces to provide a close connection with the garden all year round. Timber cladding and a biodiverse green roof have been chosen to integrate with the landscape of the Gower AONB.
