We had a bit of w**ding to do yesterday. Has anybody else noticed more horsetail around this year?

Horsetail
Horsetail (Equisetum arvense), often called mare’s tail, is an invasive, deep-rooted perennial w**d that will spread quickly to form a dense carpet of foliage, crowding out less vigorous plants in beds and borders.

As you can see from the photos the old flags needed ripping out and replacing. We opted for Old York natural Sandstone and finished it off with a rough finish flow point to really give a beautiful, natural feel to the dining space.

The turfed area had an extreme gradient and wasn’t ideal for our clients grandkids to play on. We removed the old turf and brought in a high grade root mix to level the ground before applying a locally grown turf... apparently it’s better than Old Trafford now 🤷🏻‍♂️ you decide.
•
We used cotswold creme to create a border; fill in gully’s (much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye than plastic gully’s), to create a gravel trap around the property and to tidy up the fence line at the table end.
•
The client is waiting on fence panels and steps to be put in as well as some minor pointing at the gable.

Full Transformation

Front and back garden completely overhauled and made new.
•
Raised beds, Indian sand stone patio in the back, Marshall’s patio along the side of the house for utility purposes (shed/bins etc) - we were also able to salvage some of the old flags first laid in the back of this property down the side and saved our client a few £s.
•
We installed a walkway along the new artificial turf to allow easier access to the pavement for our client for bins and for when she’s hosting people that need to park further left.
•
As with these new builds we’ve found that clay is the soil of choice for developers. As a precaution we opted for limestone sub base for our artificial turf to create extra drainage vs tradition MOT which isn’t as porous.
•
Finally, we framed the entire back garden with some beautiful cotswold creme stone that can be kept for decoration or have planters placed on top.

Been a couple of busy bois today!
Got a text from our client who wanted his garden returfing for a party in a week or so. Told him he’s mad! You Can’t walk on turf for 6 weeks lad! So he asked us what’s the options?
Luckily for this young man we had a plan. The original soil was riddled with w**ds and unwanted shoots so we reshaped the lawn and put some CRISPY lines in, a couple of nice curves and a soft wave or two.
We then membraned the whole surface to help suppress those pesky w**ds and secured the membrane to the ground with landscape hooks.
Finally, we barrowed 8, yes that’s right, EIGHT tonne bags of high quality landscape bark in to create this beautiful contrast.
Now the kids, dog and a couple of merry adults can enjoy this soft play space with peace of mind. Plus it makes the garden look bloody lovely doesn’t it?

Feast your eyes upon this pruning job.
Full hedge trim, front and back. Lowest hedge was 6.5ft highest was around 8ft high.
We created some crispy lines on these beauties. Trimmed and shaped but we left a little bit on because we didn’t want the growth to stop. We’ll be maintaining these going forward and creating a well manicured green border.
Lawn was also mowed and strimmed.

What a difference a day makes.
Beautiful offset fencing really changed the feel of this garden, twinned with raised sleepers that really helped frame the lawn. The client wanted a decorative stone border to plant into, this helps to keep the garden uniform, keep the plants moist and prevent w**ds popping up (well, helps keep most of them down. You can’t stop mother nature 🙄).
We used grade A soil, a w**d membrane and a good amount of compost to ensure any plant can grow in this wonderful space.
Doesn’t the drop down fence look great? Gives it a minimalist Scandinavian feel.

Spring comes round fast right? Take your eye off your garden for a couple weeks then it gets on top. Don’t worry, we can reset your garden for you.
Our client wanted their jungle being taken down. The land was uneven and bumpy so we levelled it out and made it flat so that the client can decide what they would like to do with their blank canvas.
We also removed a tree stump, a hand full of concrete posts and tidied up the front garden.
