👀 Visual Inspection:
The service begins with a thorough visual inspection of the boiler and its components. The engineer checks for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion that might affect performance or safety.
💦 Central Heating Water Quality Test And Filter Cleaning:
Most boiler manufacturers require regular servicing to maintain warranty coverage. The water flowing through your system is like the blood running through your heart (the boiler) and veins (the pipework) through body. It is essential that the water quality is correctly maintained and tested annually to prevent unnecessary breakdowns. Included in my service is a check of all chemicals & inhibitor levels which will prevent sludge forming in your system.
Magnetite (A.K.A sludge) can destroy your boiler and cause huge problems within your central heating system resulting in costly repairs. As the saying goes “prevention is cheaper than the cure” sludge is the number one cause of all boiler, breakdowns ⚠️
A water quality certificate is also issued with all my services, which, again if your boiler is under warranty in most instances, will be requested by the boiler manufacturer to honour your warranty. Also be aware that should you require a warranty call, most manufacturers will conduct their OWN water sample test to check whether the central water system has been correctly maintained annually. Failure to do so could result in them refusing to honour the warranty and repair of the boiler. DO NOT GET CAUGHT OUT ❌
⚠️ Safety Checks:
Safety is a top priority. Checking for gas leaks, carbon monoxide emissions, and proper ventilation. Also ensuring that the boiler complies with current safety regulations.
💰 Efficiency Assessment:
Measuring the boiler's efficiency by analyzing its combustion process. If the boiler isn't burning fuel efficiently, it can lead to higher energy bills and increased carbon emissions.
👨🔧Component Cleaning:
Dust and debris can accumulate in the boiler over time, affecting its performance. During the service, I will clean various components, such as the burner, heat exchanger (where recommended), and flue.
⚙️Testing Controls:
All boiler controls and safety mechanisms are tested to ensure they function correctly. This includes checking thermostats, pressure relief valves, and the boiler's automatic shut-off system.
☠️Flue Inspection:
The flue is examined to ensure it's properly installed, sealed, and venting harmful gases outside the property.
🔧 System Pressure Check:
A check of the boiler's water pressure and top it up if necessary. Low pressure can lead to heating problems. My service also includes a check of your boilers expansion vessel and re-charge (where necessary). So many boiler issues are attributed to the expansion vessel simply loosing its charge.
💧Lubrication:
If applicable, lubricate moving parts to reduce friction and prolong the life of the boiler.
⚡️Boiler Ignition:
The boiler's ignition system is inspected and, if needed, adjusted to ensure it ignites without issues.
💣 Gas Tightness Test:
A gas tightness test is conducted to confirm that there are no gas leaks in the boiler or its connections.

After the service is completed, provide a service report detailing the work performed, any issues identified, and recommendations for repairs or further maintenance.
