In our beloved town of Wootton Bridge, we once enjoyed the convenience of free parking. The streets accommodated at least 35 cars, making parking a non-issue for residents and visitors alike. However, in 2014, the local council decided to impose charges on our car park. To make matters worse, they painted yellow lines on both sides of the street, forcing vehicles into their paid car park as a means to generate revenue.

This decision has not only caused inconvenience but also disrupted the harmony of our community. It's clear that this move was more about profit than practicality or public service.

According to data from RAC Foundation (2018), free parking facilities significantly contribute to local economies by encouraging more visits and longer stays. This action by our council contradicts such findings and seems purely self-serving.

We urge the local council to reconsider this decision - revoke these unnecessary charges and restore free parking in Wootton Bridge for the benefit of its residents and visitors alike. Please sign this petition if you believe in fair access to public amenities without undue financial burden imposed by those who should be serving us instead.
