Our latest blog explores the internal alterations to the late Victorian Grade II* listed Goodleigh United Church. The church is a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP), bringing together different Christian denominations to worship and minister collaboratively, and the church is an important hub for the wider community. The aim was to create flexible, multi-use spaces while respecting and enhancing the church’s architectural significance.

Director and Conservation Architect Miriam Kelly gets a mention in this article from the Times, for her vision in transforming a derelict waterworks in Dartmoor National Park into a stunning family home – Holly Watt writes ‘Miriam, meanwhile, had created the most brilliant planning application, which somehow transformed the hideousness of the waterworks into granite and larch-clad-beauty.’ A great article about planning challenges, design, vision and determination.

Dismantling of the West Chimney over the main entrance of St Michael’s Mount Castle. Of the four granite chimneys on the West front this was the tallest. Unfortunately, it was damaged in ferocious Storm Goretti which hit St Michael’s Mount with wind speeds of 111mph. The chimney will be carefully rebuilt under the guidance of Structural Engineer Paul Carpenter and in collaboration with the Conservation Officer, Historic England, St Aubyn Estates and the National Trust to ensure a suitable reconstruction is undertaken on the iconic castle.

Great news, as the St Philip and St James West Wall Revive project is shortlisted for Heritage Project of the Year at this year's Michelmores Property Awards. The project saw sensitive restoration of historic stained glass, new protective glazing and significant works to repair and replace degraded limestone window tracery and mullions. Thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding and heroic fund-raising efforts by the PCC, specialist local contractors including Wells Cathedral Stonemasons, Heritage StainedGlass and sensitively conserved the West Wall of the much loved local church

We are thrilled to share that Wortham Manor has been shortlisted in the South West RICS Awards in the Heritage category. The Grade I listed manor underwent significant refurbishment to improve energy efficiency and upgrade the facilities. We explored options to rationalise and minimise energy use throughout this large late-medieval manor house. The Landmark Trust pulled together a collaborative team both in house and with external consultants to achieve the work in a tight timescale. The property has been given a new lease of life with modern facilities without losing any of its historic charm and detail. For more detail see the project pages of our website and the Landmark Trust.
